Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

No plans, I’m having surgery so I’m taking a break from the holidays this year. Love scented candles to get me in the holiday spirit tho (I live in CA so there’s no snow and everything is brown or burnt right now!).

We’re hosting an open house one Sunday afternoon; it’s very casual, with coffee and lots of yummy desserts. It’s fun to visit with everyone but I’m usually so busy running around making sure everyone has drinks and snacks that I’m exhausted when it’s over!

I’ll be entertaining this year – but instead of another Xmas party – I throw a dinner party for 12th Night; it’s a great way to catch up with friends while the Xmas decorations are still up – without all the scheduling hassle! The only issue I’ve run into with 12th Night dinner parties is the dreaded New Year’s diet. The diet can be postponed right? Your body doesn’t know the difference between the 1st and the 8th?

I host a secret santa party every year with my 12 best girlfriends.. we do a potluck and it works out great because no one has to stress too much! I also make yummy and festive champagne cocktails by mixing champagne with flavored liqours such are pear schnapps, cassis, or raspberry schnapps!

We typically have all our friends over for an Ugly Holiday Sweater Party where the biggist concern is laying out lots of really delish food. But actually days of Christmas are spent shuffling between our parent’s houses, where cleaning up (washing dishes) seems to always be appreciated!

I will be entertained at both my parents’ house and The Boyfriends. After almost 6 years, we have yet to figure out a good way to do holidays. It’s a bigger deal in my family than in his.

Washing dishes is ALWAYS a good thing to do. It’s easy and you can’t mess it up. I always offer to bring a dish too.

Woo-hoo, this will be our first Christmas in our new JP condo! I love hosting parties (everything I know I learned from my mom – who just hosted a fab and fun dinner for 18 on Thanksgiving – she throws the best parties!) and before we even got to the party-throwing lessons, she taught that when you’re a guest, never show up with just your two arms hangin’ by your sides… Always bring a little something for the hardoworking hosts! Oh, not sure if someone already said this, but a good host tip is to send a guest or two around to serve the first round of hors d’oeuvres (dont forget a stack of cocktail napkins). Not only is it nice to say Yes when someone says, “Can I help?”, a yummy offering is a nice conversation starter for guests. Better yet, it keeps you free to work on the next hosting task!

Happy Holidays to All and keep up the great work, J & S.

Holiday decorating is a blast, but until we get our kitchen re-done no parties at our house! It is NOT pretty! We have been fortunate enough to have been invited to FOUR (!!!) parties, so our tips to the gracious guest are:
    1) Always take a hostess gift. Don’t kill yourself figuring out what to get. A bottle of wine or nice food item is always welcome.
    2) Always dress up a little! We live in Austin and I can’t tell ya how many times I have gone to parties where people are wearing short pants and flip-flops! Save this stuff for the BBQ! In my book it’s always better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. Looking nice will make you feel better and your host’s will appreciate it, believe me!
    3) Always mingle. Do not depend on your host’s to entertain you! You will meet some great people!
-Follow these simple rules and you will have a great time and will always be invited back!

Sadly my house is not big enough to entertain in my own digs, so I’ll be the “entertainee” this year. The best way to be a courteous guest in my opinion is a food/beverage donation and helpful hands when it’s time to clean up (In my fam, the cook never cleans)!

I’m hoping to squeeze in the hosting of a little holiday shindig for some friends, but we’re still on the parental holiday rotation. However, my mom has basically put me in charge of Christmas Eve dinner, so I’m excited to put my domestic prowess to work. ;)
