Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This is the first time I’m hosting people here on Christmas Day. Usually we get dressed up on Christmas Eve and visit with family and go to church. I have to say, Christmas Day for me is all about hanging around the entire day and relaxing in our jammies. I think I might ask guests to dress as casually as they want for the big meal– jammies are encouraged!

I love mercury glass, I have a few candelabras in my Xmas line-up that would look great with this set.

I recently hosted a “sip and see” for my best friend and her new baby. Our girlfriends were all home for thanksgiving so it was a great opportunity for us to get together. We ate finger foods and drank cranberry martinis.

Congrats on your baby on the way!

Normally we have my in-laws for Christmas, but this year they will be visiting my BIL and his family, so we are on our own. When we told our 8 y/o son he exclaimed that though he would miss his grandparents, he was excited to get to have pizza and cupcakes! Where that came from we have no idea, but it will be pizza and cupcakes at our house. :-)

My fiance and I will be traveling to Chicago from our home town of Kenai, Alaska for the holidays this year(So excited!)We will be guests in my soon-to-be sister in-law’s home for a little over a week. I think the best tip for being a courteous house guest is to be the guest you would like to have in your own home. For example: Treat the hosts and their home with respect, offer to help with cooking and clean up, show your appreciation by bringing a gift(a bottle of wine or such), don’t use up all their hot water when showering, when it’s time to go home leave the guest room tidy…and don’t forget your please and thank yous!

My husband and I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment, so we will be celebrating at our family’s homes. I plan to bring a few dishes so our moms don’t have to do all the work though :)
I am also planning on making a few ornaments to give as hostess gifts – something they can put on the tree for years to come.

I’m throwing a Christmas party.I’m not a huge entertainer due to our small house, but I’m all about the potluck. For Christmas, I ask everyone to bring two dozen of their favourite Christmas cookies, then we pass out disposable containers and everyone takes a few of each. A whole variety of cookies to serve for their next party! Works great!

Z me! It’s my turn to host Xmas for the our small family.

My tip is that to be a great guest, you must keep it in mind if you bring your children. I’ve seen many parents arrive with their children to a house party and completely be oblivious to their kids mischievous attitude.

Not hosting this year but when I do, I always try to do as much as possible ahead of time and really really make myself relax and enjoy the time with whomever we are entertaining. There is nothing worse than a stressed out host/hostess and one who nevers sits down to visit.

I love to decorate our home! I am hosting my book club this week was a great way to get motivated and have our tree up early to enjoy.

As for being a courteous guest, I like to bring wine with a small ornament attached which looks festive and gives the hosts something to keep and remember the evening. I like to buy ornaments in a group/set so I can easily grab one from my stash!

Z-me! I’m not really entertaining this year. I’m making lots of cookies for the troops stationed out here in Guam during the holidays. My mom is coming to visit, but she doesn’t count as a guest I have to entertain. My husband is currently deployed to Iraq, and my daughter is too young to understand what Christmas is yet, so I’m taking advantage of my opportunity to “skip” all of the big Christmas traditions. :)

Dishes, dishes and dishes. You either bring them to help with dinner, do them after dinner, and all the while have good conversation and catch up on news. Nothing is so glum as a silent guest or host. Get it? Three dishes. Ha!

Z ME! We’re doing a potluck Christmas dinner this year with an assortment of family and friends who aren’t traveling home for the holidays. We did the same thing for Thanksgiving and it was an absolute blast!!! We also make our theme “little or nothing holiday” where each person brings an inexpensive handmade gift to exchange or we forgo the gift exchange altogether and participate in a group service project instead.

Our house is unfortunately not quite big enough for entertaining, so we usually attenders not attendees. I plan to have just a gathering of friends over for a low-key holiday celebration because I want to be the host for once! I’m going to just make sure we have fun music, yummy food, and perchance some games available so that everyone is entertained.

We’ve hosted a Christmas party for the last few years, as old friends return to the area to see parents for the holidays. With the right group of people I don’t think it’s hard to have a good party, so long as you never run out of wine!

I love going to my in-laws house believe it or not! They always have something planned for every day.

I guess my best tip when visiting family (or even friends) is offer a zillion times over to help and then help clean up as if it’s your own home and do it without anyone asking. That is a sure-fire way to be asked back again!

Z-Me! The holidays are usually a big struggle for me around hosting and decorating, because not only do I have a love for all things holiday- but I am also a full-time pastor- which means that I find myself pulled in all kinds of directions! So, I guess my answer would be that I prefer to be hosted at someone else’s house- as long as naps are permitted after many long days of work!

While I really look forward to entertaining for the holidays one day(perhaps next year?!) this year my boyfriend and I are completely remodeling our home (on our own) so we are not up for guests…it’s quite a mess! I usually go to my parents home in Rhode Island for Christmas. While I don’t bring my parents a gift for letting me say in my old bedroom (now a guest room) I do like to always take a bottle of wine to the host (or something comparable) and if staying for more than one night, take the host family to dinner to as a sign of appreciation for letting me be their guest. Happy Holidays!
