Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Z ME!

We just had my husbands family over to our little ranch for his grandfather’s birthday. We barely made our goal of finishing our unfinished projects (like finally finishing installing the bamboo floor in the office)before they came over. We have only been in our house a year now and are SLOWLY acquiring furniture, so we actually had to ask people to bring an extra table and chairs!

Z ME! I don’t think we will be entertaining this year. More than likely, I will find some family member’s house to crash. Hopefully next year we will be able to have a Christmas party and actually used the fireplace. I have never been a hostess but hopefully I will learn to become a great hostess/entertainer in the future.

Z Me: we had 10 people over for Thanksgiving lunch. And we’ll be traveling to CO to be hosted for Christmas. So we like to do a little of both. As host, I like to have just the right music to play in the background to set the mood.
As guest, I like to bring a nice candle or two as a thank you and help out wtih any clean-up needed as a thank you, as well.

Z ME! We’re having a party at home and going to a couple of parties, too! I would use the votive holders on cafe tables and the hurricane for flowers or bare branches with ornaments on them. The highballs would be great for small flower arrangements, lined up on the bar. As a guest, I like to bring a little something for the hosts as a thank you. Votive holders would be great for that, actually!

Z-ME– I learned through trial and error that the secret to a successful gathering is to provide a generous spread of foods that are both tasty and easy to eat. Dinner parties really only work if your hosting another couple or very small circle of friends but when you’re having a shindig that leads to a lot of mixing and mingling, no-one really feels comfortable setting down to a formal meal with people they only just met.

Fresh baked rolls (even if they’re store bought), deli meat, cheezes, dips, fixin’s an assortment of salad dishes ensure that even the pickiest eaters will find something they like. Since putting it all out on platters takes little to no time, I can whip up a mouthwatering assortment of homemade deserts– which is the best part of the meal anyway right?

That and nothing says welcome quite like the smell of something delious baking in the oven.

Z ME . . . we are traveling to see my parents for Christmas. We always try to bring a thank-you little gift to any host and we love to bring things unique to where we live. Right now we live in Seattle, so bars of Theo Chocolate and Fran’s Caramels are our top choices to give.

ZME! Every christmas eve my family and another join together for a traditional italian dinner (which is a blessing for my southern, non-itailian, family) and in the past we have traded off house to house. This year we’ve decided as an insentive to get the house looking its best (meaning finally finishing projects that have sat for months on end) we will be hosting the dinner at our home. We will see if it will result in any hair pulling or not!

We’ll be hosting a small get-together at our place, in addition to going to many different relatives’ houses. When I’m entertaining, I always make sure to stock the kitchen with things others might like to have–not just what we like to eat. So we stock up on plain half-and-half, unflavored coffee (caf AND decaf), various sodas, etc. It seems like a small thing, but you would not believe what we’ve seen other hosts do. We were even forced to eat our turkey DRY one Thanksgiving because our host didn’t like gravy! Whaaat?

I love entertaining at my house because it’s a good reason to get those long awaited house projects done. I just re-painted my brick fireplace in order to get ready for a few Christmas get-togethers. Nothing says “welcome” more than a blazing fire you can gather around.

Z ME . . . we entertain the whole family in our very small home on Christmas Eve with a fondue and assorted snackies. We love to do this. We’ve always waited until the day prior to do a super clean of the house, but this year, we’re cleaning early. Does that sound bad? It isn’t that we’re messy or dirty, just that I want the house to be spotless!

I’m not planning on doing any entertaining this holiday. I would’ve liked to but we have traditions of going to other family members houses. If I was going to entertain I would like to create a warm & inviting atmosphere with beautiful christmas decorations and candles and maybe even little goody bags for the guests to take home!

My tips- make it a potluck event so that you don’t stress yourself out with meal prep and take your group caroling to make for some great memories with your guests as well as spreading cheer around your neighborhood!

I absolutely LOVE to entertain! I don’t have my own space yet, but I make do with what I can in my little apartment. I think the key to a successful event is knowing your guests and making them feel at home. This holiday I will spend most of the time at friends/family homes. Don’t forget a host/hostess gift when you go!
