Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I love playing host, but we are about to move into our first home, which is a construction zone…so we won’t be having anyone over for the holidays this year. That means we’ll have to play guest!

I think fun decorations and candles glowing make any home a nice place to spend the holidays!

We will be entertaining at home as we do every year. Our girls will have their first annual Christmas Pajama Jam Sleepover with 10 of their friends. We will have lots of food and make candies and cookies. Plus we watch Christmas movies and list to Christmas music.

Nope, not planning to entertain this holiday season OR travel too much…mainly because I am/will be enormously pregnant (due 1-17-10) and want to enjoy a quiet time with my hubby & son before our new one arrives.

2 Tips for Hosts: Make it as easy on yourself as possible; make it potluck! Yes, really, people love to bring something. Second – nibblies and drinks go a LONG way to keeping folks happy and entertained.

2 Tips for Guests: Always help with clean up…but do not stay too long!!!

I love hosting family get-to-gethers, but lets face it, it’s no fun when you’re constantly rushing to fill drinks and serving dishes. So, my suggestion is make sure to have generous portions out, so you don’t have to worry!

Now that we are spending our first holiday season in our new home we will be doing some entertaining.

As for hosting, I think its important to prepare or purchase food that is delicious but doesn’t stress you out or require you to spend too much time away from your guests! It’s about being together.

Hosts need to chill out and not micromanage everything. Your guests want to be treated to a relaxing weekend and few choices – not a crazed dicator demanding that they get up at the crack of dawn to “welcome the day”.

I’ll be at home for the holidays, but when I do host, I like to make sure everyone is well-fed. I also like having guests take home a portion of the leftovers. And I like to bring flowers for the host because they always brighten up a table.

My husband and I will host 16 family members Christmas Eve!! We’ll have manicotti (homemade by my Mom) and chicken and steak fondue. Even the kids get to fondue. They love it.

For dessert we’ll have lots of cookies and probably a red velvet cake (Mom again!) We’ll play Apples to Apples & Bananagrams (lots of fruit related games!).

We usually end the night by watching Elf! Gotta love Buddy.

I was just at a home of a friend last night and I wish, wish, wish she had set up seating for everyone. She served soup (an okay party food), but had no place for people to sit or any place for people to gather for conversation. If you are hosting, try to set up lots of places for people to gather, maybe in different areas of your home. That would have made me more relaxed and happier to be in your home.

My husband and I are on our own this Christmas for the very first time. All our family lives out of state and we’re not going to be able to make it back home this year. :(

So, to combat the sadness of that, we’re talking about throwing a little cocktail and dessert party in a couple of weeks for our friends. This is our first Christmas in our new house and I want to show off our decor!

We have lots of celebrations to attend, but our favorite Holiday happening..which is quickly becoming tradition..is the party we host. Fairly common these days, we’ve hosted an annual “Ugly Christmas Sweater” Party for a couple years now. Nothing like getting festive with an over the top sweater….

Z ME! As a guy, I like to entertain my friends and have them over to our home. I like being able to grill out, watch some football, play some ping pong, and just sit back and talk. I’m not sure it qualifies as full-on entertaining since we’re not talking place settings or anything here, but just some low-key fun entertainment!
