Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

As it’s my first year in our new home I’d love to celebrate everything at my place. But it will all depend on if I can persuade everyone else that my house is the best place this season. I’ll try anyway! :)

Until I get a bigger house with ROOM to entertain I’m leaving the holiday parties up to my family! But I love to entertain and gladly help with the prep and, of course, clean up. I think that’s the most courteous thing a guest can do… help clean up the mess they contributed to!

    Z ME!

I actually hosted my very first get-together this past weekend for about 12 people. I’m kind of tied between preferring to host or be hosted. They both have pros and cons. Hosting means I’m in control, I’m comfortable, I can do what I want – but also that I’m responsible for everyone else’s comfort and there’s a lot of prep work involved. Being a guest means I might not be in a comfy chair, or in a room that’s too warm, or I might not have much to eat as a vegetarian, or have a drink I like other than water, and I might have a long commute – but there’s far less prep work, less cleanup, and I don’t have to care about what people think about my home.

As I observed this weekend – one tip to being a good guest is: If you use the last of the toilet paper and see an extra roll set out for you, put it on the roll – don’t just leave the empty roll there.

I love entertaining and having people over for dinner/game nights/football games…any excuse to have people over. I always have a jar of my mom’s homemade pepper jelly with some cream cheese and crackers on hand for impromptu guests as well as cookie mix that you add an egg and oil too. I just throw them in the oven and the smell of fresh cookies fills our apartment. You can also throw a pan of water, cinnamon sticks and cloves in the oven on a low temp and it will make the house smell like the holidays.

I usually keep it simple, pot luck whenever others offer, relaxed and welcoming. Making people feel like “friends” not “guests” is key:) Happy Holidays!

For the first time my husband and I are hosting his family for Christmas Eve. I love this tradition! We all go to Vigil Mass together, then have dinner and open family gifts amid much chaos. My husband is the oldest of ten, and there are four grandkids now, so my biggest goal is going to be making sure it’s really wonderful for the kids. Can’t wait!

We love to entertain at home! One of the things that our overnight guests enjoy most is that I put bottled water in the guest room–that way they don’t have to venture out to the kitchen if they are thirsty at night. Plus, it makes it seem a bit more hotel-ish!

I personally love going to others’ houses, I don’t have to clean or clean up and since my decoration is often lacking in many areas, theirs is more than likely better then mine! I would rather bring stuff to your house and help you get ready than host it.

I’ve already been doing a small bit of entertaining with just a few close friends. Looking forward to more this holiday season! On a tight budget, but candles and old jazz standards set the mood, as do festive, colorful wine glasses with a good red, served with yummy but inexpensive eats like little cups of cream of tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches (cut into strips for easy dipping), a lovely cheese plate with sliced pears and honey, and small chocolate truffles for a sweet ending. Happy Holidays!

In my neck of the woods the entertaining usually consists of pajamas and rented movies. *Sigh* We’re just not overly exciting. However, someday I would like to have double dates and game nights and lots of fun at my house! But school leaves no time for such things!

I love entertaining, and my husband and I just hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner! It was especially fun because it was the first time since our wedding where we had both sides of the family together.

My tip? Just go with the flow. We can’t control everything and the most important thing is the company.

We’re having both Thanksgiving and Christmas at our new place this year.

Tip: If over at someone else’s house take off your shoes if they don’t have shoes on…digging a stiletto into an 80 year old pine floor is not a good way to be memorable at a party.

If entertaining a large group at your house be sure to have music (not too loud), light a fire in the fireplace, and sprinkle a few small puzzle type games in random places so people can pick one up when the conversation lulls.

We are still young enough that we go to grandma’s house during the holidays :) In my family, everyone brings their specialty dish, that way the hostess doesn’t have a gazillion dirty dishes at the end of the night, ’cause most of them go back home with guests!

We’ll be spending Christmas with the in-laws this year, but I love to have people over. My tips:

    1) Get as much done before hand as possible so you can spend time with your guests and not preparing
    2) Leave the dishwasher empty to spead up clean up
    3) Make your guests feel comfortable by offering them a drink and introducing them to everyone else in the room

So far I’ve used them as an excuse to get a bunch of our own diy projects around the house done….I’ve even taken several cues from what you’ve done with your lovely home.
