Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Z Me!

I love having people over, but I have to get past the stress of people seeing my house in it’s normal/less than perfect state. We just had Thanksgiving at our house, we’ll have at least one more party before Christmas, sort of a delayed “kitchen warming” party. Our trick is to divide and conquer. I take care of the food and my husband takes care of the libations. That way we can both enjoy the party.

This year I will be hosting my 5th annual Naughty or Nice Christmas party for my friends. We do a white elephant gift exchange game where each couple brings 2 wrapped presents — one naughty, one nice. Its definitely an evening of laughter & entertainment.

I will be heading to my parents for the holidays. I won’t officially be hosting, but it’s one of the few times of the year that I really cook and I love it – I always resolve to cook more on my own afterwards… Maybe this year.

We’ll be hosting, though we really have no preference between hosting and being hosted. Our Christmas this year will include 1 cookie exchange party and 1 Christmas for Lost Souls (hosting those who have nowhere else to hang for a holiday feast). We love providing lost of favorite comfort foods (all with a little twist to keep it interesting), plenty of wassil and warm toddies, and fresh cookies from the oven.

Ho ho ho and yum yum yum!

I prefer to be entertained at other people’s homes. I get too stressed out having people at my place, although my family will probably celebrate christmas at my house.

I think guests should always bring something (be it wine, soda, beer, etc..)and should offer to clean up if they stay that long. As for hosts, prepare ahead of time so that you’re not worrying about last minute things!

We’ll be spending Christmas at my parent’s house which is only about a 1/4 mile away!
My tip is to keep your clutter (read: kids’ clutter!!!) under control and be sure to clean up all of their mess before leaving! I think there are few things worse than visitors (with kids or not) who leave their things all over the place as if it’s their own. It’s understood that there is extra stuff and extra mess when extra people are in a house, but guests should be considerate of the owner’s space as well and treat the host’s house BETTER than their own!

Z ME!!! I love to entertain and be entertained. My best advice is to be memorable. If I am a guest, I bring a small, but unique gift to the hostess/host and if I’m hosting I like to make sure that some aspect of the event is as unique and memorable as possible. That may be anything from the food served to the table settings to the decor. I remember a simple wedding reception that had many homemade touches such as the bride and groom’s own collection of coffee cups to serve coffee to the guests. It was simple but a warm guesture.

I love the holidays because they’re a great mix of being hosted and being the hostess! My fiance and I love to host a new year’s bash each year (complete with guitar hero competitions and lots of champagne at midnight!), but Christmas is when we travel to see our respective families… whether you’re entertaining, or being entertained, it’s so important just to smile and have fun!

I love to entertain at home, and I’ve had a silly Christmas party the past 4 years! I love this time of year; both my husband and I have birthdays right before Christmas and it’s just a season for having friends together. Last year we hosted an “Ugly Christmas Sweater Party” that featured classic holiday party menu items like cocktail wieners and spinach dip. I think we’re going to go a little more casual and classy this year with an easy wine and cheese night. We always play lots of board and party games though!

I love entertaining and will definitely be contributing to the hosting this year. My mom still has the festivities at her house, but as everyone gets older, we all spend the days leading up to the holidays cooking at home and getting everything ready for the celebration. Some of my favorite memories are from the time we spend preparing while everyone is together and in the holiday mood! :)

The original plan this year was to have my parents over for Christmas day. However, now it looks like we’ll be going there the next day, so we get to spend the 25th at home. How nice to not have to be running. After that, we’re spending the next weekend with my mother-in-law. We still have one other Christmas to plan, but not sure when that will be.

A tip for a good host/ess: always have fresh bed sheets for the bed (already put on is even better).

To be a good guest: I like to make the bed the next morning. My host will have to strip it down anyway, but at least it looks nice until they have a chance.

We’re actually celebrating at a hotel this year. My family will be stopping by on their way to Colorado to see my brother and his family, and since we have a cat that my younger brother is allergic to, we can’t entertain them here. That hasn’t stopped me from decorating to the hilt though!

“Z Me!” I’d love to be entertaining, but we’re in the middle of a major remodel and have no kitchen, so we’ll probably be guests this holiday. We always bring a good microbrew and I love to do little hostess gifts as well, like candles or cloth napkins.

Entertain at home… we are doing Holiday Neighbor’s Night… which is just open to our neighbors.. 6 or 8 of us neighbors and kids … all of us on our circle. We will all start at one home and make our way to each home — to see each other’s decorations and share in some nog or noshes! Easy small plates at each home so nothing is too time consuming for any one of us.

My husband and I live in New York City and, like most apartments here, ours is a tiny bit too small to have family over Christmas. We will be spending the holiday at my parents’s house in the burbs where I can put my childhood ornaments on the tree there and watch home videos. But I love to entertain, so I hope to have a bunch of friends over at our place for a pre-holiday party to get the entertaining urge out of my system :) My tip for being a great host is to try to do as much in advance so that you can actually spend time with your guests, but still have great things to serve them.

I plan on maybe hosting some friends before the holidays but will be staying in various cities throughout the actual holidays. Being a good guest is as easy as being a gracious guest. Remember how difficult it is to have someone at your house and try to appreciate it adequately when the tables are turned.
