Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

This year I will be entertained, not the other way around. I have an almost 2 year old boy, and I’m preggers with boy #2. I NEED to be taken care of for the holidays! :)

We’re spending our first holiday season in our new house, and while I’d love to entertain, we’re still knee-deep in painting and renovations. I’m hoping it’ll sparkle come holiday time next year. In the meantime, we’ll be visiting family and friends and bringing desserts and wine to share.

We will be traveling to my in-laws this holiday break. Since my husband and I are both teachers, it is easy for us to get away. PLus, we hosted family for Thanksgiving! I think the most important thing to remember when you have guests, is to stock up on lots of good foods, to make sure everyone is statisfied at anytime. Plus, it is important to have fluffly, comfy bedding…

“Z me” My husband and i will be driving around to all of our parents houses during Christmas. I think that having a few options for a refreshing drink or light snack available to your guests is important when they arrive. Also, if it’s just a casual gathering i think lots of pillows or blankets are necessary to make them feel comfy while we sit and chat:).

I love hosting, but this year, we’ve just moved and I don’t think we’ll be doing any big entertaining. I might do something after New Years during that giant lull between the end of year holidays and spring.

As for tips, I always bring a hostess gift or something when being hosted. A bottle of wine. Good cheese and crackers, some homemade goodies. When hosting, plan evenings around an activity. We’ve successfully hosted pumpkin carving parties, tree trimming parties, build your own pizza parties, anything with an activity. Make sure you have good flow for guests to move about and PLEASE, introduce folks! And when doing introductions, throw in an interesting tidbit to help start conversations. “Jessie, mean Josie, you both love to mountain bike” or something!!

My husband and I plan on spending our first married Christmas with my family. My husband and I just moved to New York City this past August. Christmas will be our first time back for the big holidays! Tips for being a courteous guest is to help whenever possible. I cannot wait to help my mom cook and have our annual family and friend Christmas party. I actually hope I can maybe add my husband’s favorite dessert dish to this year’s menu.

    Love your blog.

We are doing the entertaining this year, much easier to keep all the kiddos home and bring the fun to us! We always try to keep the spare bedroom ready to go with clean linens, a guest basket filled with toiletries and a mini coffee maker, to make our guests feel right at home, or like they are staying at a fabulous hotel! ;) Happy Holidays!

Z ME! I am a new homeowner and LOVE being able to entertain at my place. My first holiday season get-together was this weekend and it was a blast – my best entertaining tricks were learned from my grandmother, who is the consummate host. She is the best at creating little vignettes all over the house so that every room feels special and welcoming to guests – fresh flowers and yummy soaps in the bathrooms, a drinks tray and cocktail glasses on the coffee table, a basket of freshly folded towels and sunscreens for a pool party. I always think it’s the little things that go the longest way to make your guests think “you were thinking of me and you’re happy to have me here!”

Also, I start getting the house ready a week before the event so that I have time to clean and declutter as I spruce up the house. That way I don’t end up with a box of junk shoved in a closet to get it out of the way at the last minute… and after the guests leave and the dishes are done I get to relax and enjoy my lovely home!

    Z ME!!!!

We inevitably do both entertaining guests and being guests at the homes of others during the holidays. With four children 6 and under, things can get a little… stressed. I much prefer entertaining others because we don’t have to worry about whether or not things are childproof or whether there will be entertainment for the little ones. When we do go for a visit though, I always make sure the little ones are well rested and fed before, during, and afterwards. It seems like common sense, but it is very difficult sometimes to make sure that everyone is being nourished while we’re jumping from house to house.

(no one eats it of course!)
