Fab Freebie: Got A Light?

We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.

This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades.  In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.

But hopefully you’ll have trouble breaking the antique-nickel-clad Lucy Accent Lamp (valued at $298) that they’ve put up for grabs this week. Check it out below:

To enter to win just comment on this post with the words “GIMME A LIGHT” by Wednesday, March 4th at 8pm EST. And since this prize hails from my alma mater’s hometown, we’d love to hear what you loved most about your college hometown. I could go on and on about Charlottesville- after all it was once named the #1 place to live in the US. And we could probably name quite a few things we love about Sherry’s college town (NYC) too, considering it’s where we met. This prize can be shipped to the lower 48 United States and as always, only one entry per e-mail address is allowed. Good luck…

My college town was only 10 min away from Disneyland! Many long breaks between classes and weekends were spent using our season passes and having fun!

    GIMME A LIGHT!

I graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. What I loved most was the southern hospitality. No matter where, when, who-everyone there held every single door for every single person on campus. It was kind of an unspoken rule you learned when you stepped on campus your freshman year.

    GIMME A LIGHT!

My hometown college experience was rather bleak. I live in Joplin, MO and we have a local college just turned University (Missouri Southern State University). I was a Marketing and Management major and they are actually hailed for their Business curriculm.

My best take on it was that it was basically like high school, but with ashtrays! My brother on the other hand got to go off to the University of Arkansas because MSSU didn’t offer a degree in Architecture. Whoooooo pig!

I LOVED my college’s town – Northampton, MA. Great hippie-dippie art town where the art work of Kurt Vonnegut and Dr. Seuss is on display at the local art galleries and book and poetry readings at the local coffee shops and used book stores, great music performances, and all with beautiful hiking nearby.

My college was in New Haven, CT. Best thing about it? Yorkside Pizza’s buffalo wings, which were battered and deep fried. I haven’t found wings like them anywhere else.

My college town was Oxford, Ohio (Miami University). It was surrounded by corn fields and there was nothing for miles, until you drove on to a picturesque college campus. It was a true college town with nothing to offer but college bars and restaurants, but it was perfect.

Gimmie a light please. My husband is a UVA Grad (’08) so I frequented C-ville throughout college. Technically I resided at University of Mary Washington which is about an hour north of you in Fredericksburg. I love it there. I would like to move back. It is the perfect combo of suburban shops and a cute downtown and BEAUTIFUL campus. You two should venture north and check it out!

Gimme a light! Oh, this would be perfect for my side table and could discard (donate) the left-over from college days side lamp currently in our den. Speaking of college, Chapel Hill (my college hometown) is small and quaint with so many different things to do – I love that it is a college town. I have several favorite spots: Yogurt Pump, Cosmic Cantina, and Top of the Hill!
