Fab Freebie: Got A Light?

We love giving away lamps, what can we say. So if you didn’t come out on top last week, here’s another shot at taking home a stylish piece of lighting for your home.

This week’s prize comes from The Shade Shop & Lighting Gallery located in nearby Charlottesville, Virginia. They offer a diverse and ever-changing gallery of table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers, sconces, tables and (of course) lamp shades.  In fact, they’re brimming with excitement over the new line of Bunny Williams lamps that just arrived. Plus, the Shade Shop offers custom lampwork and repair, meaning if you want something unique they can make it AND they can fix it if you happen to break it.

But hopefully you’ll have trouble breaking the antique-nickel-clad Lucy Accent Lamp (valued at $298) that they’ve put up for grabs this week. Check it out below:

To enter to win just comment on this post with the words “GIMME A LIGHT” by Wednesday, March 4th at 8pm EST. And since this prize hails from my alma mater’s hometown, we’d love to hear what you loved most about your college hometown. I could go on and on about Charlottesville- after all it was once named the #1 place to live in the US. And we could probably name quite a few things we love about Sherry’s college town (NYC) too, considering it’s where we met. This prize can be shipped to the lower 48 United States and as always, only one entry per e-mail address is allowed. Good luck…

    GIMME A LIGHT!

I went to college in Tacoma, WA, specifically in the neighborhood of Parkland, one of the meth capitols of the U.S. The ghetto-ness of the neighborhood seems a little endearing looking back on it now. A private Lutheran university in the midst of episodes of COPS. Not necessarily my “favorite” thing but very memorable indeed!

My college town was Davenport, Iowa.. I loved it because it had a Whitey’s Ice Cream shop, karaoke at Circle Tap on Friday nights, and my best friends!

My college hometown is a GREAT place to live. Chico, ca is so diverse and full of nature all around. We live 15 minutes from the foothills and mountains, 2 hours from the beach, and there are lakes and creeks all around. Anyone who loves the outdoors would love Chico. The campus is also beautiful with many different types of trees and a creek runs through it. People here are also very friendly and it is a small town neighborhood feel.

GIMME A LIGHT! My college town is also my hometown, so it’s hard to pick just one thing….I think the thing I love most is the area known as Dundee, with cute restaurants, coffee shops, and apartments – it’s the college area, of course!

Another Texas A&M Aggie here! The best part of my college town was the number of students and that there was always someone new to meet at every turn. I miss TX =/

I loved how small the town was, all the professors lived around the central campus and would have end-of-year parties and other get-togethers for the students at their homes.

My college town was diverse. It has fantastic buildings that are being restored and then the slums right next door. I still liked it.

I normally don’t enter contests like these, but I really like this particular lamp shown on the blog, so I figure why not.
College- I liked how diverse the campus was- young, old, strawberry shortcake colored hair, multiple body piercings, and staunch conservatives with crisp Oxfords, tie and all. :) all side by side.

Gimme a light! I love that lamp. I love my college town (Georgetown TX) because of its proximity to Austin and the fact that it is a big town and a small town at the same time.

Madison, WI is my college town. Summer nights at the Union Terrace are a high point, where the only light needed was the moon reflecting on the lake. This lamp actually reminds me of that scene.
