Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Thanks for teaching me how to check the oil in my car, how to start up the lawn-mower, pull up old rugs, and how to ballroom dance. And thanks for loving my husband as much as you love me. [you never really liked any of those *other* boyfriends anyway ;)]

Growing up without a father my husband was really worried he wouldn’t be a good dad. He is fantastic with our son and seeing them play and roughhouse and have fun together is the best thing ever, knowing that’s the one thing he didn’t have his whole life.

Happy Father’s Day to my father George, and my father-in-law Tom.

My father isn’t biologically related to me, in fact I’ve never met the man who is… my father is the man who married my mother when I was five and then later legally adopted me. He’s the man that has never treated me as anything other than his own flesh and blood and for that I owe him the world.

I am lucky that not only is my dad a great father, but a great friend too. We go running together several times a week and just entered a race series together (8 races this summer!) so I think — unless I win! — my father’s day gifts this year will have a running theme.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY BOB!!!!
My amazing husband works his butt off for our family and so I can stay home with the kids. He is a step father to my son from a previous marriage and Dad to our daughter together. He treats them the same. He is in love with them and even though my son is close to his “real” Dad, he still loves my husband the same. My husband has no qualms about taking off work to come support my son at school events and basketball games or having tea parties with our daughter. He checks on them both a million times each night to make sure they are safe and sound and shows them how to be a good person with good morals and is full of love and respect. Ever since having Sophie, our daughter, he gets so excited when we hear a friend of ours is pregnant and is the first to congratulate them and give them all the hot tips they may need. It’s actually funny, really…
I hit the jackpot with Bob. He is my best friend and the love of my life. My kids are so lucky to have him in their lives. He is a true Dad…

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, Geoff!
A perfectly-timed example of his awesomeness just happened this morning. Our 2-yr old is sick with a double ear infection and possible pneumonia. :( And we’ll just say that because of that she’s also not in the best of moods. Our coffee pot broke this morning and mama needed some caffeine BAD and the McDonalds drip coffee wasn’t gonna do it for me. We’ve got tons of coffee shops close to us but the only one with a drive thru is 15 min. away. I didn’t feel like I could take my sweet, yet hacking girl in public yet so I loaded up the sicky in the car for the 15 min. drive. It was a relatively drama-free trip. Grande in hand, we drive back home. I successfully juggle her and the full drink into the house and set the cup down on the desk just inside the door. (Well away from the edge, mind you. Safety first with the scalding coffee!) I bend over to set her down, my bag starts to fall off my shoulder and I hear a dull thump and glug, glug, glug. Yup, every last drop all over the desk & floor. Le sigh.
I call hubby up and he graciously takes a break from work, gets me a coffee & drives it home. My hero! :)
(Sorry for the novel. It’s a silly example really because he’s an awesome husband and father for many, many more important reasons. But…What a guy, right!)
Thanks for the giveaway John and Sherry! :)

My dad is the best example of faithfulness I know. He’s faithful to his family, and faithful to his God. He works hard and listens carefully and he does it so quietly you almost don’t notice.

My father-in-law drives me nuts sometimes, but right now I’ll just remind myself how warmly he welcomed me into to his family, no questions asked, and still does. He’d drop anything to help us if we really needed it.

    <3 my dad. <3 my father-in-law.
