Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, DADDY (AKA STEVE)! I’m cooking my dad his annual Father’s Day meal of meatloaf – it’s a tradition. My dad is great because he has always been there for us when we needed him no matter what. He also helps out with work around my house when I need him too! Thanks, DADDY! You Rock!

    “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY BRAD!”

My husband is the greatest person, he is so patient and helpful with all my crazy ideas around the house. He never asks questions and just is there to help me when I need it. I would really like to reward him maybe some new tools or a new grill. He’s been eying one since out little $50 grill from wal-mart isn’t cutting it anymore.

Happy Fathers Day Papa, Grandad and Dad!

Grandad – Thanks for working hard and serving in WWII, for setting a great example and always making sure that your grandkids know that you love us. I have received more tickling as a child than any normal person because of you.

Papa – I wish you were still alive so I could ask you how to fix EVERYTHING! Someday I hope I can acquire the amount of fixit knowledge that you had, but honestly I don’t even know if it’s possible. I love you and miss you.

Dad – you’re the man, you’ve loved me my whole life and sacrificed to help me succeed as a person. Thanks for showing me how to love your wife, be a leader and not to give up on my dreams. I hope you don’t read this, bc this is a suprise, but for Fathers Day, your sons are getting you a Frisbee Golf Set and one round of Father Son Frisbee Golf. Hope you like it.

Thank you all for being great Fathers!

    Happy Father’s Day Daddy!

I love that my father married my mother, a single mother of three little girls and took us as his own from day one. He spent many years trying to adopt us and finally after several years of trying it became offical just a few days before Christmas! I am very excited to drive 8 hours this weekend to see him and celebrate Father’s Day with him!

I must say that I am one lucky girl to be blessed with a Daddy that has always made me feel special. In a month I will be getting married and leaving my parents home to start a new one of my own. It is bittersweet and I will surely miss reading the paper on Sundays with my daddy . I know that during our Father/Daughter dance at my wedding, neither of us will have dry eyes!

My sister and I will celebrate Father’s Day on the 4th of July this year, as we have been doing the last several years. It gives us a longer weekend to bbq and relax and spend time with our wonderful Dad. This year he’s on the Similkameen River, dredging for gold with the other prospectors that congregate there every year. Fun times!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY JOHN!! He’s the best dad ever to our three daughters, now nearly out of the “nest.” I can remember him using popsicle sticks and shaving foam so the girls could “shave” right along with him, having his nails painted and a father/daughter banquet along the way. But the funniest thing he ever said to our girls was that the cement mixing truck was a sandwich maker and that after the tube finished spinning around, a sandwich would come down the chute! They were obviously pretty little when he said that, but they still laugh about it. I’m not sure how old they were when they figured out it wasn’t true, but they were probably 9 and 7 before I even heard the story!

We’ll probably celebrate by packing up boxes for our move, which isn’t the most fun thing in the world, but getting more stuff out of the way will make for a happy daddy. Since we’re moving from a two bedroom apt to a three bedroom townhouse and actually have space to grill, the impending move is a present to both of us as well as our 6 year old.
