Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DAD!

One of the best things about getting older was finally “getting” and enjoying some of the stuff my dad likes to do like watching hockey and drinking beer. It also has been awesome to see his face light up when he gets to spend time with my husband, giving my dad some “man” time after having to live in a house with all women for years.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DAD!!!!!!

My father has helped me pack, move, unpack, hang pictures/shelves/clocks to make the place feel like home….then pack, cover the holes and marks made by aforementioned pictures/shelves/clocks, move, and start all over more times than I care to count! He has never once complained, even in the hairest and most stressful moments! He is my construction go-to person, having taught himself how to repair just about anything that could go wrong in a house. No one deserves this more than him!!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Daddy and Bub!

My love language is acts of service. Over the years, Daddy’s always found a way show his love in that way, no matter how out of place he felt. Forgotten pantyhose before prom? He’s dispatched and not wanting to screw it up, comes home with six different pairs, including several for different ethnicities! Missing wedding supplies the night before my big day? Bless that man’s heart: he went dumpster diving. For all the repaired toys, cars, and broken hearts–love you, Daddy.

And as of two years ago, a new father in my life: my husband’s dad, “Bub.” A true American cowboy, with the boots, hat, and quick arm with a calf rope. We don’t talk often, but last summer after a misunderstanding, he personally called me to apologize on behalf of the family and let me know how much I mattered to him. I was floored by this amazing patriarch. His smile and mischievous sense of humor have been passed down to the man I’m blessed to call the father of my own future children. Love ya, Bub.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, DADDY!

I’m definitely “daddy’s little girl”! After my dad had a heart attack, he got serious about getting healthy. I was able to spend lots of time with him as we worked up to 6-mile walks (his first “walk” was from the front door to the mailbox…after open heart surgery, it was a huge undertaking for him!). He would tell me all about how the corn fields grew, the different flowers we saw, and all kinds of flora and fauna related things. Today, my dad is my go-to-guy. If I don’t have an answer, I know my dad will have some words of wisdom to guide me.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY DAD! My dad is one of the most generous people I have ever met. This used to bug me as a kid (mostly because I thought he probably could have bought me a toy instead of giving money to someone who really needed it), but now I’ve matured (thankfully!) and realize what a difference he has made in so many peoples’ lives because of his willingness to give.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY D!

My dad is quirky and really funny – somtimes without intending to be. He likes Snoop Dogg…as an actor (I’m serious) when he finds something he likes (shirt, shoes, pants) he buys one in every color. If something is on sale, he’ll buy 4 or 5 of them to stock up. He builds computers for a hobby and is an electrical enginner – so can fix most anything. He also is a HAMM Radio Operator. What is that you ask? He has his Ameteur Radio Operator’s license. We have crazy antenae’s all over the roof of the house I grew up in. He also gets more sentimental as the years go by. It’s very sweet. Wow. I didn’t even intend to write that much…I just kept typing and typing….

    HAPPY FATHER’s DAY DAD!

My dad has passed away, but this giveaway reminded me of a father’s day gift I made my dad when I was younger. I painted and shelacked a flower pot for him and put a bag of homemade oatmeal cookies, his favorite, inside. I guess I was a bit too excited to wait to put it all together and the cookies ended up infused with the flavor of the shelack. Yum. Let’s just say he was a little surprised, but he was sweet about it.

Happy Father’s Day Dad! My Dad makes me proud because he’s been so patient with teaching my husband how to do things around our home. It’s so sweet and kind of him to help in the first place but he goes beyond that. Instead of just quickly doing the repairs, which would be much much faster, he takes the time to explain, show, and allow my husband to have his own home repair successes. What a guy! xo
