Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY PAPA KEVIN!

Boy, oh, boy would my step-dad love this (in addition to the yard vaccuum that he’s been begging for)! My step-dad (Papa Kevin) has been one of the most influential people in my life, and I love that he is so hardworking while never forgetting his inner child…

You know how when you take two children to a store and one of them always gets hurt because they were playing around with something they shouldn’t have been? That is my Papa Kevin and I in a nutshell, and on our Memorial Day weekend trip to Lowe’s, Papa Kevin was the one that got hurt this time (though it’s usually me). You see, Lowe’s had a really nice display of mini vise grips on one of their endcaps and Papa Kev decided to loosely clip them to his ears like earrings. “See, Krystal, you could get a man if you wore earrings like these.” To which I replied, “Stop being stupid, Mom is going to get mad.” and then I squeezed the vise grips thinking that was how you released them. I knew I had made a mistake when Papa Kev’s eyes bugged out of his head and he let out a high-pitched scream. Even though I nearly ripped off his ears, I love that he found it hysterically funny instead of getting angry (though he once wanted to kill me after I nearly blinded him…hint of advice, make sure you have eye contact before you say “think fast!” and throw a Baby Ruth bar at some one).

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to YHL’s John and my own dad, Bud! :)

My dad is a great guy. Aren’t all guys? and he’s a landscaper, so the mower would definitely come in handy.

And my boyfriend, though not a father just yet, would LOVE a new grill. Sign us up. Thank you so much and enjoy this weekend!

Happy Fathers day… Mom and Dave.

My mom has raised me on her own since I was a pre-teen. She is the best mother (and father) a girl could have.

Recently though, I’ve been blessed with a new father figure. I admit I was bullheaded when I first met Dave, but he has grown on me like a moss on a tree. I couldn’t ask for a better guy for my mother. You’ve taught me so much about cars. And even helped me catch my first fish.

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TIM!

My favorite memory of my father is actually from a rough period in my family’s history. My dad was out of work for several months when I was about 8 years old. I know he struggled that entire time frantically searching for work, but all I remember is that almost every day he took an hour or so time out to take us to the neighborhood pool. Thanks dad!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Hubby! (I’m hoping we’re pregnant soon, so that counts, right?)

Paul makes my day very often, but most recently by building us 3 walls and a floor for a compost pile so it’s no longer looking trashy under the tree in our yard!

We would love the Fiskar mower – can’t be any more difficult than our current gas-powered push mower, possibly even easier since I bet it weighs a lot less. I would love to try it out!

My husband and I are having our dads over for dinner and s’mores around a fire. I told my dad I’d cook whatever he wants and he requested Grilled PB&J. Never had it? It’s like Grilled Cheese but you replace the cheese with PB&J. And it’s only good if you make it with really really cheap white bread.

I can’t imagine calling my father by his first name, I’ve only ever called him some version of “dad” and “coach.” He was my high school soccer coach, and even though I graduated yeaaarrrrs ago, we still find the time to bond over soccer. Be it watching high school games together, kicking a ball around, or talking about all the amazingness of the WORLD CUP, it’s something that have together that I am oh so thankful for.
