Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Happy Father’s Day, Eric!

Eric is about as good as they come – an all-around amazing husband and father. He keeps us laughing, keeps a roof over our heads, and keeps me, his wife, in line when I get over-excited about house projects and/or future events. I wouldn’t change a thing about him … except maybe his metabolism since he can eat everything and not gain a pound. ;o)

He is a pro at projects around the house and we visit Lowe’s almost more than we visit our parents (and they live pretty close).

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Daddy!

My husband has fought through some difficult times to become the father he is today and I love seeing our son and my husband playing ball in the backyard. I know I don’t tell him enough of how great a dad he is, but he really is wonderful. Now, he could use some tips on marriage, but nevertheless…hee hee hee…

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY JOHN!

My dad knows everything about gardening! His garden is enormous and he grows things on request– we tell dad what we’d like (this year, I requested cantalopes) and it magically appears! :) He also raises heritage breed chickens, all free-range and organic. I credit my dad to teaching me about living “green” long before there was a term for it– he just called “the right way to do things.” He’s the best!

You have always made me so proud to be your daughter. You bravely served our country for over 25 years and raised your 3 children to do the same. The pride and love I have for you cannot be expressed in words alone.

    I love you Daddy.

    HAPPY FATHERS’ DAY, KEVIN (DAD)!

My dad is AWESOME. He can do anything and everything – sing, play music, act, fix cars, build houses, repair anything around the house, and the list goes on and on and on. He even – literally – cures cancer as he teaches universities and hospitals all over the country how to use radiation machines to treat various types of cancer. He is the best. I’m grateful to have him in my life!

    “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY, Tony!”
My dad is the most wonderful jack-of-all-trades/Renaissance man I’ve ever met or heard about. He’s beaten off a bear with a skillet, he built his house from scratch with the help of his father and brothers, he passed down his love of photography to me (how I make my living), and he is the most romantic/sentimental man I’ve ever seen.
This father’s day, as always, he and his two brothers (every single one of them with only daughters) will bring their families to their parent’s farm for a huge cookout.

My dad is the ultimate handyman, and both me and my sister are moving into our own places in the next 3 months…which means tons of fixing projects for him (aside from the addition and remodeling going on at his own place)! If I win….I’m keeping the reel mower, which means Dad doesn’t have to come mow my lawn! :)

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY RICK AND STEVE!

I’m proud to be the daughter of my hard-working dad. He always worked two jobs growing up and still made time to spend with his four kids. He’s my hero. I also want to tell you about my wonderful husband, Steve. He can work 90+ hours a week (he’s a orthopaedic surgery resident) and still come home and help me with the dishes and laundry. He’s the best dad to our 3 kids!

Happy Father’s Day Jim and Joe!

My husband and I have the very best dads ever. They’ve both always been extremely supportive, good listeners and always there to lend a helping hand. I could list all of the father daughter dances that I dragged my dad to when I was a girl scout, or the many skills and lessons he taught me over the years, or the hour long conversations we’ve recently started up filled with philosophical musings, but it all boils down to me being a very lucky girl.

The grill would be perfect for my dad because he is the absolute grill master and makes the most amazing ribs you’ve ever tasted. The mower would be perfect for my father-in-law who is now in charge of not one but two yards after reccently flipping a house. Since he’s retired and my MIL is still full time, he spends many mornings and afternoons tending to both yards.

Thanks for two very generous giveaways!

    HAPPY FATHER’S DAY JONATHAN!
Whereas I adore my dad who lives 2 doors down the street, he would have little appreciation for a new grill & eco-friendly mower like my amazing, fantastic husband Jonathan. Devoted father to our rambunctious 4-year old twin boys, he’s a perfect parenting partner and would probably turn cartwheels over even a gift of a burger (in lieu of a grill) & a pair of garden snips (in lieu of a mower)!

Keith is my father-in-law and he is driving from Nashville to Norfolk, VA on Father’s day to visit us and kick off a week long vacation at the beach. As soon as he, my mother-in-law and their three grandkids get here we are headed to the waterpark for a day of fun followed by a cookout with our neighbors! The next morning my husband and I are driving down to Orlando (Disney World to be exact) to meet my mom and dad for a reunion of sorts with their ex-exchange student and a late Father’s day celebration!

My dad is my hero! He is a wonderful person to be around and is always looking to the bright side of things, not to mention he always knows just the right solution to my problems! This fathers day we (my father, boyfriend, and myself) are going to do one of our favorite things together, flea marketing! Except this time, instead of him buying me things, I am buying him things! Everything on me! :)
My FIL is the kind of person who makes you non stop laugh! He has got a great sense of humor! I also love when we all go fishing together, he always is there to help me out! We will be doing something for him the weekend after fathers day, it isn’t hard to guess what…. fishing!
