Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Happy Father’s Day, John!

John is one incredible guy – dealing with a very serious autoimmune disorder, John teaches approximately 26 fifth-graders every day and *then* happily comes home to his two tiny monkeys that are 2 and 3 years old. His generosity and tenacity bring tears to my eyes every day and I’m so very proud to call him my husband.

    Happy Father’s Day, Josh!

It is important for me to celebrate my husband on Father’s day for everything he does for our family all year. He works hard to allow me to be a stay at home mom to our 3 boys, which is something that is very important to me!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Jess! Thank you for showing other men that being a dad is just as hard as being a mom when you do it right. Thank you for sharing in the joys of this parenting gig and always recognizing that what’s best isn’t always easy, and what’s simplest is sometimes the best. Thanks for always lighting up when you come home from work, even if I know you’ve had a long day. Thank you for being my partner in every sense of the word. Fatherhood looks good on you. I appreciate you more than I could ever express in words.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to Jim, my dad, and my brother!

All my boys I love for different reasons. Jim, because of the family that we have with his two kids from a previous marriage, who I couldn’t love more even if they were my own blood. My dad, for all of the obvious reasons, plus the fact that he sacrifices so much for his family, but doesn’t even think twice about it, because he doesn’t *see* it as sacrifice…it’s just how he was brought up to live and love, just like my wonderful grandpa who passed two years ago. Finally, my brother. Who became a father at a very young age, but who took on the responsibility with love and grace and has become one of the best fathers I know. I hope I win this so I can get them some fan-tastic gifts!!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY Jordan! :) My husband and I, like you two, are first time parents as of January 2010. Our little man, Max, has been a blessing, but also a HUGE lesson in loving, cooperating, and communicating with each other. We love him to bits, and I can also see that being a dad has always been in Jordan’s future. I’m just glad that I get to be his #1 fan and wifey.

I am hoping to win the Fiskars Reel Mower, actually. Jordan’s been babying his dad’s old lawn mower from the 90’s, but it’s slowly, slowly dying, part by part. It never starts for me every time I go to mow the lawn, and I swear it might just implode one day. Even if I don’t win, I might just get it for him anyway, as a less-implicit way of saying, “We need a NEW MOWER!”. Thanks, guys! <3 the blog :)

Paul is my husband, not my dad. but he has a great sunburn in the “plumber zone” because he spent the weekend on his hands and knees working on a big outdoor decor project for me. what a guy! I think he needs a suspender for his tool belt to keep the sun away from that very very white area

Happy Fathers Day Dennis! I am named after my father, even though I’m a girl, and he’s always let me be his little helper, even now at the age of 28! He has a really cool tool belt, with a leather belt that has his name tooled in it, and when I was little, I would always want one, to be just like dad. Most of my weekends have been spent helping him with one project or another, building a raised garden, cedar fence, helping him build his house and deck. I have learned all my construction skills from him and so much more. He’s a great teacher and loves being able to pass along his knowledge, whether to me or to the neighbor next door. Love you Dad for all you do!

My dad is one of the best guys I know, and it doesn’t hurt that he is extremely handy around the house! As my husband and I recently moved into our first house, we’ve been putting him work on various projects, and he is always up for helping and offering some great suggestions. For this reason (and many, many others) I’m very lucky to have him as a dad!
