Fab Freebie: Father Lowe’s Best

****This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Having now been a father for one whole month (Happy 1- month birthday, Clara!) I’m totally psyched for this Sunday: my first Father’s Day. Another reason I’m psyched? Because our friends at Lowe’s have offered to help us celebrate Daddy Day with a handy gift guide mood board along with a totally testosterone-ready prize. So if you’re still scratching you head about what to get ol’ pops, here are a few ideas to get you started. And if you’re our lucky winner, you might just be covered entirely (for the next few years even):

Lowes Father's Moodboard

  1. What’s Father’s Day without tools? Kobalt 22 Piece Set ($50) is a great starter set if your guy happens to be tool-less. It covers all the basics, plus dad gets a tool bag to keep it all organized.
  2. If dad’s covered in the tool department, help him step it up a notch with a Kobalt 60 Piece Driver Set ($54) that has a bit for just about any job you can think of and then some.
  3. Now if you really want to splurge on pop this year, upgrade his workshop with a Kobalt 53” Tool Chest ($1798). It’s not your everyday tool storage space – it’s got a radio and mini fridge built in! Like woah.
  4. If tools aren’t his thing, help him tend to the yard with the Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower ($199) that we’re enjoying. It’s an eco-friendly way to mow, plus he’ll get a little extra workout in.
  5. Or hook him up with a Troy-Bilt String Trimmer ($100) to keep those edges in check. Bonus: he might just stop mowing over the flower beds.
  6. You can also send him on a power trip with the Porter Cable 4 Piece Combo Kit ($129) that’s got a cordless reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill and flashlight all powered by the same battery.
  7. But enough about gifts that put dad to work. What about letting him relax with a nice meal straight from the grill? This compact, but powerful 2-burner Char-Broil Urban Grill ($269) could do the trick.
  8. Lastly, if he’s like most guys and is just plain hard to shop for. You can never go wrong with a Lowe’s Gift Card, right?

If you read this morning’s post about my experience with the Fiskars Momentum mower, you already know that it’s part of this week’s prize.

Lowes Fiskars Mower

What you don’t know is that this week’s winner is also gonna score #7 on our gift guide too. Yep, the Char-Broil Urban Grill is also making it’s way to one of you. That way you can spoil the dad in your life with a one-two punch of prizes (or split ’em up if you got a few fathers to pamper this year). Okay, and we wouldn’t blame you if you just kept ’em for yourself. Can’t beat nearly $500 in free stuff, right?

Lowes Char Broil Grill

Now let’s get on to how you enter:

  • PRIZE: The Char-Broil Urban Grill and Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower courtesy of Lowe’s, Char-Broil and Fiskars
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY _______!” (inserting the names of the dad(s) or father-like figures in your life) and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … why not share something you love about them or how you plan to celebrate, honor or remember them this weekend. Feel free to gush, get sappy, or just tell an embarrassing story that captures why he (or they) make your day.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, June 16th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Happy Father’s Day Del!

Del is my dad. He is the type of father that wore ties I made from construction paper to work on Take Your Daughter to Work Day. He’s the type of dad who told me “I will try my hardest to like your boyfriend, but I will never think that anyone is good enough for you.” He is the type of dad who walked me down the aisle and as he hugged me said “I was wrong. There is someone good enough for you.”

Happy Fathers Day Dad! (Bob) He always took my sister and I out of the weekends to give my mom a break. He taught us to save our “nickels and dimes.” He taught us both how to be completely independent and self sufficient, and to always “speak up.” And he taught us the way around a hardware store!

Thank you dad, for acting like frozen Banquet Fried Chicken and Macaroni and cheese was your favorite meal when I would make it for you every father’s day as a kid. :) And of course we would always eat it in the dining room, on the good china with lit candles.

    Happy Father’s Day, Pete!

I’m taking a cue from Jen at Balancing Beauty and Bedlam and making my hubs a “throne” for the day–a comfy place to sit with the remotes, some good treats, and refreshing drinks so he can take a break from all the projects I ask him to do.

Happy Father’s Day to my fantastic dad, Roland!

I generally describe him as “my rock.” My dad is the strongest and most consistent person I know. He has taught me how to truly care about people and how to manage money!! He is such a genuine man, and now that he is all alone at home, that grill would surely make cooking for himself a lot easier…or at least possible!!

    Happy Father’s Day Charlie!

My in-laws have been a huge help to us since we moved into our new home. This Father’s Day they are coming over to help us chop up a tree that fell in our yard during a recent storm. After that, I’m making dinner for everyone as a thank you for all their help.

I love my father because he is so selfless. He is saving up his pennies to pay for our wedding reception food and rental even though he just got engaged to his girlfriend of fifteen years and now has another wedding (and honeymoon in Ireland) to pay for!

    Happy Father’s Day Andy!!

Growing up family dinner never meant us all gathering around the table together. It usually meant us all gathering around the kitchen island picking at what my dad has just pulled off the grill. My father is a die hard grill master. Rain or shine, at least three times a week, my father can be found ,tongs in hand, with a piece of meat on the grill. My favorite moments are watching him pull meat off the grill one handed with an umbrella in the other. Such dedication deserves reward…I only wish I could afford to give him this grill on my own. This father’s day weekend he will walk me down the isle. Afterward we are going to celebrate in true family fashion, with barbecue, beer..and hopefully no umbrellas.

We actually celebrated Father’s Day yesterday (which was a surprise to David) because our daughter is being baptized next Sunday and that plus all of the family that will be here for it means that David won’t get the attention he deserves on his first Father’s Day. So we had our own yesterday and it was great:)

Being a 20-something year old and living hours away from my parents doesn’t mean that they won’t come running when I need them. I had knee surgery 6 months ago and they drove the 8 hours to be with me pre and post surgery…then drove me home the 8 hours so I could crash on their couch for a month. Oh yeah, then drove me the 8 hours back :)

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to my dad, Ron!
My parent’s divorced when I was 8 years old (I’m 41 now, so it has been a while) and he was always my stability. When I felt sad, or lonely, or was having troubles with my mom….he was always there to talk me through it. As I got older, he was always there to offer advice or money whichever I needed worse! He is and always will be the greatest….and he retired a few months, so he is now officially a man of leisure!!!

My own dad passed away a little over 18 months ago and I miss him dearly, but I am blessed to have three wonderful “fathers” in my life. My wonderful husband – the ultimate hands on daddy to our four year old little boy. My Father In Law, who raised my husband and his brother with a strong work and family ethic, to be good men and wonderful role models for their own sons, and my older brother(by 14+ years) who in addition to being a pesky brother, has been a father figure to me the last few years – giving advice, helping me(and Brian) make good decisions both financially and with our home projects. I am a lucky girl to have so many wonderful guys in my life and as role models for our son – so that in the future, he will be a wonderful dad, too.
