Fab Freebie: Doggone To Sleep

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

A couple of weeks ago we asked our Facebook fans to share pictures of their pets (since we talk incessantly about Burger) and got an awesome response – over 100 photos and links of their four-legged friends (which you can browse right here under Fan Photos). So we figured a giveaway geared towards your pooches (and meowsers) was in order. Enter AllModernPet.com stage right…

AllModernPet Web Site

AllModernPet.com is just one ofshoot of a slew of sites (like AllModern.com) that offer a wide range of products for us humans too, from Herman Miller office furniture to Murray Feiss lighting. But that pic of the Boston Terrier sprawled out on his dog bed had us at hello, so we present to you an AllModernPet.com pet bed giveaway. One lucky pet parent will win their choice of an awesome easy-on-the-eyes bed so their furry family member can sleep in style (and your pup’s “bedroom” can be as stylish as your own).

AllModernPet Dog Beds

Here are this week’s giveaway details:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one dog bed from Bowsers, For The Dogs and Harry Barker (Rectangle or Round), any size and fabric you’d like (valued at up to $151).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “DOGGONE IT!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about the strange place(s) your cat or dog currently likes to fall asleep. Burger’s got a whole list of weird places and positions that he dozes off in, so we’re sure your pets have some kooky sleeping habits of their own.
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 9th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One (well, two if you count the winner’s pet)
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA this time (including Alaska and Hawaii)
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    DOGGONE IT!

Our 51-pound Beagle-Bull, Nimbus, likes sleeping wherever his Mommy and Daddy happen to be! At dinner time, he scoots himself under our dinner chairs and snoozes. At night while we watch TV, he wants to be in the bed between us with his snout buried deep in the covers. His favorite sleeping position is with all four of his “stick legs” pointing straight-out, pushing against one of us! It’s the funniest thing…like he’s trying to push us out of his way. King Nimbus rules our roost!

    DOGGONE IT!

Our Yorkie, Bella, just loves sleeping inside of the laundry basket we keep in our bedroom closet, especially if there’s a towel or two in the bottom. The day I learned of her little secret spot, she was sprawled out on her back on top of a week’s worth of wash, snoring ever so slightly. :o)

DOGGONE IT!!! I am lucky enough that my three year old black lab, stella, is allowed to come to work with me in the US capitol building. The Congressman I work for absolutely adores her, and she him. She has been known to sneak into his office and curl up on his sofa or under the coffee table. She has slept through many high level policy meetings in there!

Our little Macy likes to sleep on the couch or on top of whoever is trying to sleep on the couch. I have caught her asleep under our deck before, too :) Hopefully a bed like this one will make our couch less appealing!!

We have two dogs, and one is a totally normal, mundane sleeper, but the other loves to shove her head under stuff – pillows, blankets, even the bed itself.

My mutts, Elliott and Nessie, have currently taken over the back of our loveseat. Elliott at 20 pounds wasn’t doing too much damage but now Nessie, 40 pounds, has joined in the fun. The attached back pillows on the love seat now have a sunken in nook for all my furbabies.

We have a 4 yr old Boston Terrier named Izzy. She loves to sleep in the sun – and prefers her current bed to be in it so that she can sleep with the majority of her body on the pillow and her head and front legs off the pillow on the wood floor.

Our pug is still in that puppy-phase, and doesn’t EVER want to sleep when we’re around–only PLAY! So when he gets sleepy (his eyes literally begin to droop) he’ll lay down and close his eyes, and then bark himself awake a minute or two later. it’s hilarious.

Our Boston Terror is actually really funny about having an assigned place to sleep, so her bed is really-and-truly where she sleeps. If she’s not sleeping on my feet when I’m at my computer, which is nice because my toes get cold.

    “DOGGONE IT!”

Lucy, our 2 year-old basset, likes to put herself to bed (in our bed, of course) every evening around 8 or 8:30! We’ll be sitting in the TV room, and without fail, she’ll get up from laying on the floor, give a little shake, and head downstairs. Then we hear her approach to the bed (budum, budum, budum, thunk) where she’ll curl up and make herself comfy using my pillow as her own. Then I have to move her over, despite her grunts, when my husband and I head to bed quite some time later. She’ll even cover herself up most nights, and burrow under the covers.

DOGGONE IT! Our gigantic Bernese Mountain Dog likes to feel cozy & snug when he sleeps, and stuffs his enormous self into the smallest possible nooks and crannies. His favorite space lately is the no-bigger-than-one-foot space between the sofa and side table legs . . . which means our furniture migrates during the day!

Bindhi: the Sokoke cat. Favorite sleeping spot: on top of anything you have worn or will need to use, especially if you’re trying to use it now. Ex: jackets, purses, bills, laptop, newspaper.

Pepper: the Daniff (mastiff/dane mix). Favorite sleeping spot: curled up in a comfy chair. Bonus: on her brother, Eber, curled up in “her” spot on the comfy chair.

Eber: the other Daniff. Favorite sleeping spot: tile floor in the kitchen. In hopes of receiving a snack, mid-nap.

DOGGONE IT! I am in the middle of designing my “dog room” and am looking for new beds!

My dogs won’t leave our bed. They aren’t allowed on top, but my terrier mix Porter lives and sleeps underneath. (I’m always stepping on his tail or toes, which hang out.) My spaniel Hank wedges himself back behind, no matter how much or how little space! We are finally making a special area just for them so my room can stop smelling canine!

Paisley loves to sleep anywhere in any position. I do find it interesting since we have moved to house, she doesn’t sleep in the bed anymore… which may not be a bad thing. She’ll hop up there for the first 10 minutes I am in bed, but then she’ll go hang out somewhere else. Weird.

Though she has her own bed, she’d love to sleep on a new one!

Our puppy (a sheltie) is due to arrive soon – hence the desire to prepare for her arrival with a cute bed! In the meantime, I consider my parents’ pups (a boy and a girl maltese) my own. Sparky and Lola have all sorts of unusual sleeping spots, but my favorite is when Lola falls asleep on the arm of the couch. She occasionally gets a little overactive while dreaming and rolls right off the side of the couch! She has never hurt herself doing this, thankfully… and it is pretty darn cute to watch try to understand how she landed on the floor in the first place.

My dogs have tons of strange places they love to sleep — in my closet under my hanging skirts, wrapped around the toilet in the bathroom, in the batting that’s supposed to cover the bottom of my boxspring, etc. But, I have to say that the most curious place I’ve ever found them sleeping was IN a half-packed suitcase with the flap down (so I couldn’t even see them in there). I guess they didn’t want me to leave!
