Fab Freebie: Doggone To Sleep

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

A couple of weeks ago we asked our Facebook fans to share pictures of their pets (since we talk incessantly about Burger) and got an awesome response – over 100 photos and links of their four-legged friends (which you can browse right here under Fan Photos). So we figured a giveaway geared towards your pooches (and meowsers) was in order. Enter AllModernPet.com stage right…

AllModernPet Web Site

AllModernPet.com is just one ofshoot of a slew of sites (like AllModern.com) that offer a wide range of products for us humans too, from Herman Miller office furniture to Murray Feiss lighting. But that pic of the Boston Terrier sprawled out on his dog bed had us at hello, so we present to you an AllModernPet.com pet bed giveaway. One lucky pet parent will win their choice of an awesome easy-on-the-eyes bed so their furry family member can sleep in style (and your pup’s “bedroom” can be as stylish as your own).

AllModernPet Dog Beds

Here are this week’s giveaway details:

  • PRIZE: Your choice of one dog bed from Bowsers, For The Dogs and Harry Barker (Rectangle or Round), any size and fabric you’d like (valued at up to $151).
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “DOGGONE IT!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: Tell us about the strange place(s) your cat or dog currently likes to fall asleep. Burger’s got a whole list of weird places and positions that he dozes off in, so we’re sure your pets have some kooky sleeping habits of their own.
  • CONTEST CLOSES: Wednesday, September 9th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One (well, two if you count the winner’s pet)
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the USA this time (including Alaska and Hawaii)
  • THE USUAL: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

DOGGONE IT!! My two precious maltese Riley and Chloe love to sleep up on the back of the couch like a cat. Unfortunately, they don’t have “cat-like reflexes” so we have to be careful not to startle them awake so they don’t fall off!

Our American Cocker Spaniel sometimes likes to fall asleep in the shower stall. We think it’s because she finds the tiles nice and cool on her belly plus she loves to get water from the faucet down low near the ground. She thinks that it is just for her (and we don’t tell her otherwise)!

Our Miniature Australian Shepherd sleeps all over the place but the funniest is when she sleeps right smacked up against the first step riser in the foyer, upside down, twisted, with belly and legs up, upper body and front paws squeezed up against the stairs and then head twisted facing due north from her legs. And when you step over her as you exit the staircase she doesn’t even budge. Like this is a normal place to be sleeping.

Our six week old kitten (Ivan) falls asleep anywhere and everywhere–the kitchen floor, on his back on the sofa, in the bathtub…He tires himself out playing and then just sleeps wherever he’s at.

Our two-year old Maltese, Bubba, is very “snuggly-buggly”. He sleeps in our bed every night and for a while there he was sleeping at the head of the bed on his own pillow. But ever since we got his fur cut pretty short in November (brrr), he has wanted to sleep under the covers. He burrows right in. He also likes to sleep in a little hammock of sorts created by a blanket across my husbands legs when he puts them up on the ottoman. Bubba jumps up, right between Terry’s shins and the blanket sinks just enough to make the perfect, cozy sling.

Our dog likes to sleep on the middle of the stairs with her nose sticking out between the spindles of the railing. She also chooses the narrowest spot where the steps make a turn and are pie-shaped. To make matters worse, her fur is the same color as the carpet so we really have to be careful when descending the steps because she blends right in. A bed of her own would be wonderful!!

Our 9 year old lab, Angel, doesn’t get the opportunity to sleep in too many strange places since she’s crate trained. However, she’s got a bed in the living room, yet seems to prefer sleeping on the small carpet in front of the front door! Maybe she’s trying to tell me that she wants a new bed. :-)

We love to spoil our dogs. Our Australian shepherd/husky mix sleeps in a children sized tent from Ikea and the lab/shepherd mix sleeps in a dog bed from Ikea, each one to the side of our bed. We love having them in our room but off the bed, that was a bad habit to break.

Charlie prefers sleeping in the backyard – on the picnic bench or under the picnic bench. But after we put in new half wine barrels full of raspberries, he prefers to wedge himself between the barrels. In the mornings he just moves a few inches to start eating the fruit on the bottom tier!

Our dog Morgan loves to sleep in our bed… which isn’t so crazy except that she waits until we fall asleep, cries until we sit up, jumps behind us and snuggles in the middle (face first of course so what’s left on the other end by our faces is the rear – EVERY time!) But we love her so we grin and bear it. Plus, during winter she trumps any electric blanket! :)
