Fab Freebie: Bestå Friends

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And our lucky-slash-friendly winner this week is… Jennifer M (whose best friend is her husband. They met in college studying architecture together and now work together). Congrats!

If you saw that title above and thought “oh, like the Bestå media storage system from Ikea” instead of “typo alert!” then you may be just as into the fine purveyor of flat-packaged Swedish furniture as we are. And if you’re not the only Ikea lover in your circle of friends, then you’ll be happy to learn that this Saturday on March 9th Ikea is celebrating BYOF (Bring Your Own Friend) day as part of their ongoing Life Improvement Project. The day will feature freebies, special discounts, seminars, activities, and even gift card giveaways. Speaking of which… they’re giving one lucky reader three $100 gift cards right here this week (one for the winner and two for his or her friends) – which I’m pretty sure would solidify your status as BFFs for life.

IKEA BYOF Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Three $100 gift cards to Ikea
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BYOF ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … about your BFF. How did you meet? How long have you been besties. What’s the weirdest thing you love doing together? Do you have funny nicknames for each other – or a secret handshake that involves winking and doing the Macarena?
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: We always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond specific areas (more on that here). This giveaway is open to the United States.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 6th at 8pm or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of Ikea.

I met my BFF in science class in 8th grade! When we were in high school we liked to have boy bashing parties complete with bonfires where we burned notes in her driveway… it sounds scarier than it was! Haha!

I met my best friend when we were in the 6th grade and everyone thought we were twins because we were both short and gangly with long hair (she’s part Asian and I’m definitely not so our classmates were clearly crazy!). We love to go to Disney World. She calls me Nifer and I call her Lizabeth – an we both love Ikea!!

BYOF me! My BFF growing up (we are now many miles apart) :( met each other at the ripe old age of 5 in kindergarten. I don’t remember any secret handshakes or anything like that, but we used to love riding our bikes, which happen to be very similar looking and received on the same Christmas! We have the same coloring so often people would ask us if we were sisters. We look nothing alike and we would look in the mirror and giggle trying to figure out how anybody thought we looked a like. Our families were close and even though we live far apart, when we see each other it’s like we never left. Sweet times…

My BFF and I met in college … she was a great friend when I needed one as I struggled at a new school. Although we graduated *cough* years ago and live in different states now, we still try to get together for a long weekend at least once a year, trading visits back and forth. Ironically, the last time she visited me, we made a visit to Ikea. ;)

I met my best friend when I was around 14, through mutual friends. :) 13 years later we are still going strong!! Even though life is busy now and we don’t see each other as often as we’d like, we always pick right back up where we left off as if no time has past. We can always be honest with each other- like when I was helping her unpack in her new place last week and told her she owned ENTIRELY too much tupperware and needed to purge. ;)

My BFF Cyndi and I met 20 years ago when we were freshmen in high school. We decided to be codependent in college and room together. Everyone thought it would be a disaster, but it worked for us–for all four years. She’s in CA still and I’m across the country in VA, but she’s still my go-to for everything.
And nicknames? She’s a firm believer. Over the years my name has morphed from Amy Marie to Amy Jane Bean Melvyn Marie. Inside jokes all… :) gosh I miss her.
