Fab Freebie: Artist’s Block

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.

Numsi Text

Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).

Numsi Animals Patterns

Here’s how to enter this week:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Block me! If I’m not feeling creative, I grab the kids and head outside to play — the fresh air and chasing the kids around helps get the blood pumping.

I’m actually in the middle of writing my thesis for uni at the moment on the relevance of language in design and of course when writers block hits I do the usual student thing and open up all of my favourite blogs, facebook and twitter with a cup of tea and whatever treats are lying around the house (and secretly hope any of the good 90s sitcoms are rerunning on the tv).

Take a break! I just read a study saying that your brain works while sleeping, going over new things you just learned, and people who sleep on a problem are much better at solving it the next time they work on it, so take a nap!

I usually need to take a break and do something active, like yoga. Or, honestly, I’ve been known to blast some music (80s music works particularly well) and have a solo dance party in my living room – it helps stir up any stuck creativity!!

Music almost always helps me focus. And if music isn’t working then a quiet, dimly lit room with some candles will definitely work. I’ll be fully relaxed and the creative juices will (hopefully) start flowing. If they don’t flow, at least I’ll easily fall asleep ;P

    BLOCK ME!!!

Whenever I have a break in my creativity juices I grab a coffee and head to the “L” (Chicago’s transit system). I find inspiration in the whole journey of traveling through town without a true destination, viewing the different neighborhoods, environments, and the people from all over, from different walks of life. By the time the train pulls in to my station I am pulled back into perspective that I am one person on my own journey and there’s so much out there.
