Fab Freebie: Artist’s Block

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.

Numsi Text

Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).

Numsi Animals Patterns

Here’s how to enter this week:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

After four years of paper writing as an English major, I’ve found that writer’s block is easily broken by a glass of vino..or two.

My writer’s block un-blocker? Always listening to the classical soundtrack of the movie “Mr. Holland’s Opus.” Also was my study music all through high school and college :)

    Block me!

When I’m in a rut, I force myself to write/produce something anyway. Then I go back and edit the crap out of it, and somewhere between all the editing I usually get a creative spark again. Sometimes I end up ditching the first draft altogether, but at least it got me going.

    BLOCK ME

The best tip I ever got about overcoming writer’s block is to read something you love — a favorite newspaper columnist, a snippet from a well-loved novel. I’ve found that helps get me back on track or is at least a fun distraction.

I step away and do anything else mindless..fold clothes, make dinner, etc. I try to only write when I’m inspired…it’s so much easier that way. If I’m on a deadline, I just take a quick break and kind of push through…

    Thanks :)

When I get writers block, I focus on the opposite of what I’m doing. Example: writing paranormal, watch a romance movie, all sappy. Then I go back a reread what I’ve done and my mind just starts pouring everything out because I gave my brain a break on that topic!

Whenever I find myself with a case of writer’s block, I take a time out and have an extended play time with my two adorable chihuahuas! Seeing them run around the yard, playing with their toys, and just getting so excited to be playing is so fun and exciting to watch! It makes me feel like a kid again, which puts my mind in a more creative place!

When I’m having a creativity block I generally try to have a cool down moment with a good book or some magazines. If that doesn’t help, I like to go outside and just look around or take a walk. If none of that helps, I just take a day off and hope for a better tomorrow!

I attempt to get over writer’s block by doing creative exercises — like write a word in the center of a page and write as many words or phrases you associate with it in bubbles around the word. However, this doesn’t always work and sometimes you just have to either walk away for a bit or force yourself to write something, even if it’s bad and you erase it later.
