Fab Freebie: Artist’s Block

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

This next giveaway came to us as a nursery-themed giveaway, but personally we think Numsi‘s uniquely mod art is suitable for walls of any age. Their contemporary patterns (or custom text) is printed on canvas and then mounted on a 2″ deep birch museum frame to give it some modern dimension and bring some pop to you art collection.

Numsi Text

Plus, since the deep birch plywood cradle makes these blocks of art so sturdy, they can hang on the wall, sit on a shelf or anchor your latest mantlescape. So have some fun browsing their collection of animals and vehicles or patterns and text, because one of you is taking away a $100 credit towards anything on Numsi’s site this week (and the rest of you are taking away a sweet discount).

Numsi Animals Patterns

Here’s how to enter this week:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Numsi.
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “BLOCK ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since we’re referencing writer’s block, why not share a tip that you use to overcome any creativity or productivity block. Do you go someplace special to help you focus? Got an mental exercise to get your juice flowing again? Or do just go do something else and hope the motivation finds you again later.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 19th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Worldwide
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    Block me!

I overcome blocks by brainstorming any words that come to mind on paper, then pondering on it for a day or so, then coming back to see if I’ve generated any ideas/thoughts.

The most effective thing I do when I have writer’s block is to write about something completely different (and often humorous).

I’m currently studying in England and I’m working on my dissertation. Whenever I have writer’s block, I either grab my camera and head for a walk along the river to the castle or I hop into the car and drive to the coast to take a nice stroll along the beach…

I generally have to walk away from whatever I’m writing. It usually helps to go sit outside or take a bath and just relax for awhile without thinking about what I’m working on. Then I can usually come back to my writing and it comes easy!

I like to hunt around on an art image site like jupiter images and just select anything that is jumping out at me without trying to find a rhyme or reason. Often when I go back to the images I have saved and look at them all together, a pattern will emerge that inspires my design process!

We live out in the country, so it is pretty quiet around our house (no street noise, etc.). If I am having a creativity block I can usually overcome it by sitting outside and listening to the birds, leaves blowing in the wind, etc.

I love Numsi – I’ve seen the product in person and know the maker and I can tell you you’re getting top notch product!

    So, of course, Block me!

I’m a designer, so for me it’s writer’s block of a visual kind. I guess the only way around it for me is to search out inspiration. I often start online. Honestly, that’s the entire reason I started blogging at Small for Big in the first place: to organize all the inspirational products I’ve found.

I don’t know if I’d call what I had writer’s block so much as severe procrastination in college. I was the queen of writing papers the night before and I still got decent grades.
