I believe some previous generations have some explaining to do in regards to flooring choices. Turquoise carpeting, vinyl laminate that looks like fake wood grain, and the world’s ugliest linoleum, all in one small house! New flooring is the goal for 2014 and I wouldn’t complain if someone wanted to provide it. Thanks for posting the giveaway!

we could so use this!! the kitchen flooring needs to be redone. there was some newish vinyl/laminate/i have no idea what it is type of flooring that now that we’ve lived in it for almost 3 years, is covered in divots. any time you sit in a kitchen chair, new divot. set up the step stool to dust ceiling fan, new divot. you get the idea. it is now covered in these little divots and divots fill with dirt. plus, the floor wasn’t 100% level, so there are now cracks where the levels change. just recently, one of our cats decided to pee on it and when i cleaned it up, the coloring in it smeared, so now there is this 8″ circle of smeared flooring. basically, one big room of yuck.

Sounds awful! But if you replace the flooring, you’re going to want to have to go beneath the cabinet?

      February 18, 2014 at 1:29 am

well, there’s actually only a very small section of counters for the actual size of the room so i think we’d probably just bite the bullet and replace those at the same time!

This would be awesome to win! After we spent our hard earned savings on 4000 dollars worth of carpet in our house 2 years ago, we are kicking ourselves! With twin almost 4 year old boys and two dogs…..carpet was a very silly decision :/

This would be amazing. The previous owners of our house must have been super fans of Trading Spaces because every single upgrade they did was cheap and DIY. For example, our lovely vinyl flooring has tons of bubbles in it because they didn’t leave space for it to expand. Right now there are dozens of bubbles bigger than my foot throughout my kitchen and dining room. I won’t even start on the tile job they did in the bathrooms.

Sigh. I’m almost too afraid to get my hopes up for this one. With our tiny budget even a can of paint feels like a splurge. We were planning to save up for wood-like vinyl planks for our living room/kitchen/hallway someday and never even dreamed of hardwood floors. Crossing all fingers and toes for this one!

What an amazing giveaway!!! We have been trying to figure out how to replace the flooring in our living room. It’s carpeted in light carpet (HUGE mistake, since this is where we spend almost all our time as a family), and the rest of the flooring is hardwood that are in desperate need of refinishing. If we won this giveaway, we would rip up the carpet and splice the new hardwoods in with the old. It would be so beautiful and would make me LURVE my living room again!!!

You recently mentioned using a radiant heat, large tile for your kitchen floor. Do you have options that you’re considering (for when the time comes?). I have a large addition that is on a cement slab, currently linoleum covered, that is very cold in the winter months in Michigan. A radiant-heated floor covering is my goal for the future. When I read that my interest was piqued, knowing how well you do your research :) Looking forward to hearing more about this. Everything you have done to your new home is fresh and beautiful!

I find myself at mid-life starting over and buying a home. The one I bought (within my budget) needs a little fixing up. I am accomplishing this one paycheck at a time but the major change I want to make is to remove the blue/grey carpet that is in the living room and dining room and replace with hardwood flooring. They aren’t big rooms by any means but still not in my budget at this time. This would be an awesome win!!!
