Young House Love » Our First House » Bed Burgers

Bed Burgers

Since the month is half over, I thought I’d update you on how my make-the-bed-everyday-this-month resolution is going. The good news is that I haven’t missed a day. Promise. The bad news is that it usually looks like this  in less than an hour thanks to my main man Burger.

Bed Unmade By Burger

Can you really blame him? I guess if I were a dog I wouldn’t let anything stop me from sleeping in under some warm covers either. Well except maybe Pupperoni.

Despite his best efforts to thwart my resolution, I’m still going to keep making the bed each morning this month. And if all goes well, the habit will stick and I may just keep making it once November rolls around. Who knows. I’m crazy like that.

PS: I’m also doing pretty well on my other resolution to drink only water this month (aka: Aquatober). Although I sincerely hope soda misses me as much as I miss it.

You should try making the bed with two cats. They think it’s the most fun in the world to destroy my efforts. They take turns sneaking under the sheets and blankets while I’m trying to smooth them out. When I remove one cat, the other jumps in. At first it’s cute, but after a few minutes of this struggle, cursing ensues and I have to chase the cats out of the room and close the door. Animals are weird.

I highly recommend sending this in to America’s Funniest Home Videos! You might even win, it’s THAT funny!! (And the show could seriously use some new material… aka clips not from the 80s!)

Love the video – Burger is soooooo cute! Our dogs are burrowers, too (Boston Terriers). They even have their own little doggie “sleeping bag” that is open on both ends; although only one of them – Walter, uses it. They both love to be under the bed covers, though! Does Burger sleep with you?

      Hey Erica,

Yup, he thinks he’s the favorite because he gets to sleep in bed with us while Clara sleeps in her crib in the other room.

This is hysterical! We are horrible at making the bed… it usually only happens when putting on clean sheets, and when we are having guests :). If I made our bed every day just to have it taken apart I’d just give up, so kudos for you for being determined to make it everyday! Our pupdog doesn’t get on our bed, never tried, and we never offered (mainly because I’m such a light sleeper I’d never be able to sleep with her up on the bed – she’s 42 lbs)… as caauuute as Burger is snuggling down, I’m a little relieved that ours doesn’t know what she’s missing!!

Thanks for capturing this on video to share with us! It made my morning :).

LOL That is hilarious! My cats to the same thing. Heaven only knows what the bed would look like if our collie tried to emulate Burger, though. Let’s just say I’m not sharing this video with OUR dog.

The laughing behind the camera made this even more fun to watch…

Haha! Too cute! Our chihohoo has always done the same. When we go to bed at night he will throw a pint sized hissy fit if I don’t lift up the covers for him and let him under. He will stand there and dig and try to pull them off of me until I give in. He’s a weirdo.

Love it. My pups would do the exact same thing if they were allowed in our bedroom. They have been kicked out of our bedroom in preparation for our newest member of the family to be born very soon (we decided two adults, one baby, and two very large dogs were just a bit much for our bedroom during sleep time) and make many attempts a day to break in and get comfy.

So far Clara has proven to be a wee bit messier (drool, spit up, peeing, doing the other thing- in and out of her diaper, etc) so I have to say that Burger in the bed is the least of our worries!

My Jack Russell goes to bed with me, but my husband often kicks her out when he comes to bed (a few hours after I usually do). It’s so funny when he comes in and pulls back the comforter to grab her, she just DIVES even farther under! I make my bed every morning as soon as I get out, and by the time I get out of the shower there is a lump in the middle of the bed. I don’t have as many throw pillows so she can usually get in and out without making too much of a mess!

So funny! We have the same problem with our mini dachshund Noodles. We solve it by making the bed nice and pretty with all our pillows, and then she has her own blanket (the blanket is named caddywhomp since I crochet (sp?) it and since I guess I can’t count, it isn’t exactly a square). Anyway, we put that on top of the bed in a pile, and she burrows under it, and leaves the rest of the bed in tact.

Our pups are not allowed in the bed, mostly because they are not Burger sized. One is a border collie/lab mix (borador haha) named Kali and the other is a great dane named Jack! Jack is also a serious bed hog and will literally use all four paws to try to push us off the bed…

~Totally off subject, but I remember y’all saying that John is cooking his way through Food Revolution cook. Im curious if yall have any favorites yet? I just check it out from the library so I could see if I liked it before I slap down the cash for it!
