Fab Freebie: Say Grace

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Since our eyes are constantly peeled for fun nursery art lately, we’re psyched to bring you this week’s giveaway from Grace Hester Designs. And even if you’re not expecting a little one, you might just spot the perfect piece to commemorate your wedding, your brood, or even your love of foreign languages amongst Grace’s type and silhouette-based art.

Grace Hester Art

We love the idea of our little beanette learning some Spanish numbers or French animal names through these punchy designs (or even picking up a Chinese character or two). And it’s because of Grace’s fun range of prints that we couldn’t bear to narrow down this week’s prize to a specific group of designs – so TWO of you are gonna score a $50 credit toward anything in Grace’s etsy shop.

Grace Hester Languages

Here are this week’s entry details:

  • PRIZE: A $50 credit towards any item from Grace Hester Designs
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “GRACE ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …share with us your favorite word or saying from another language. Do you love the way a certain Italian word rolls off your tongue? Or maybe you have a go-to phrase that you learned when traveling abroad? If nothing else, is there an English word that sounds especially funny to you in Pig Latin?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, February 17th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: All over the globe!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I constantly say “estas lista?” instead of “are you ready?” Blame 7 years of Spanish…

My favorite other language phrase after 4 years of high school French is croque monsier- a yummy grilled ham and cheese that you can get just about everywhere in Paris. Wish I was having one now…

After 7 years of French, you’d think I’d have a favorite word memorized, but I think my favorite foreign word is my Italian grandmother’s last name “Valladi.” It sounds so designer-ish to me :)

My husband and I always say “Maintenant” which means “Right now!” in French…. I can’t even remember why but it’s just become a silly inside joke between us. Then we started saying it really silly like with a russian twist and it’s progressed into sounding like, “Macght NOW!”… I’m a teacher and one day I almost screamed it to one of my kids! HA!

For a favourite phrase in another language … hmm, well, we speak French exclusively to our 1 year old daughter Kate and I like to call her “Katie-Chat” (Katie-Cat). I love cats and “Minou” (kitty) was my first word, so cat in any language sounds great to me!

Bonne journée à vous deux, continuez votre beau travail!

My husband and I always say “Ca, c’est la meme chose” (which means “That’s the same thing” en francais) because it’s one of the only French phrases he knows (I took it forever in school). He also adds his other phrase “Je suis panne d’essence,” which means, of course, “I’m out of gasoline.” More useful than knowing how to ask where the library is, I guess. :)

After spending time in France, the one word I couldn’t quite work out of my daily verbage was “truc” which is a word for “thing” but in France it seems to have so many more meanings. Oh and I absolutley love “Je ne sais quoi” because I feel like that also epitomizes the french culture!
