Reader Redesign: Calendar Girl
Lindsay’s fabulous dining room project is proof that art doesn’t have to cost a mint. Here’s her letter:
I found your site a few months ago and have been reading everyday since. I love your ideas. In December I finally bought the new dining room table I’d been eying. And at the end of December you blogged about using calendars as artwork. You even showcased a black and white New York calendar. I was so excited about this. I ran it by my husband and he agreed that that is what we need to do in our new dining room. Thanks for the idea! – Lindsay

Thanks for the fabulous pics Lindsay! Your calendar art looks lovely, and we like that you punched things up with thin slices of those fab red mats to complement the red accents on the other side of the room. Suddenly I’m craving a big juicy tomato.

I used calendar prints in my recently re-done living room too! Love them (and their square IKEA frames)
Lindsay where did you get the large red artwork on the opposite wall of the calendar art (which is fab BTW)
We just dropped Lindsay a line to let her know that her dining room is on the blog today. Hopefully she’ll stop in to answer all your questions asap!

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments!
Lesley: I painted the art that is on the opposite wall.
Megan: The table is from Crate & Barrel. It is called Madison.
This is exactly what I may do in my living room. I couldn’t decide what type of art work I wanted to do as a collective…and This is perfect. I may even mix in a few of my own. THANKS!
The artwork is indeed FANTASTIC!!! Execellent job, Lindsay!
Just one teensy-weensy suggestion (take it or leave it) …
To REALLY showcase the wall hangings, drop them in height a few inches so those dining at your gorgeous table have them closer to eye-level. Your paintings will “connect” to the sideboard and the calendar prints will serve as a graceful background for dinner conversations. The room is so great you ought to have LOTS of dinner parties!
I also love to look at the calendars when they go on sale because there are some that are art quality and you can’t beat the price.
Gorgeous room!
ErinEvelyn-It’s funny you say that because after I was done I thought the same thing, but it was too much work to take them all down, patch the holes, re-paint and put them all back up. Maybe one day I’ll get around to doing it!

“I <3 NY” pictures. They look perfect.
