A Warm Neutral Bedroom Update With Brown Curtains

When Blayne came to us a month ago for an elegant and subtly exotic bedroom makeover with a hint of Moroccan flair, we had no idea she’d get everything together so quickly! Here’s her letter:

Well, my room is done and it looks amazing! Even better than I expected. I followed your design plan pretty much to a T (although I found similar chocolate curtains at JC Penney for half the price and I used a slightly different medium brown color behind the bed on the accent wall). Half of the pictures on the walls are actually the same art I had in the room before, I just cut them down and put them in new frames. I love your idea of using the 8 frames on the facing walls and I was able to put a lot of different pictures in them but they still have a cohesive look because they’re all in the same frame.  My husband and I are both just thrilled with how it came out! So are you two ready to swankify my living room and kitchen next? Thank you so much for your help! – Blayne

Here’s the split personality before:

The mood board we whipped up four weeks ago (click here for the details):

And of course the gorgeous and inviting after pics:

Lovely, no? We would totally stay at Casa Blayne, and we’re so happy she sent us such a fast and fabulous update. What do you guys think?

Update: We sadly can no longer find the time to take on client commissioned mood boards (we now whip up general inspiration boards instead) but if we ever reinstate them we’ll make a big announcement!

That looks so great! I love the bedspread.
I would love to know what the brown color is on the accent wall, it’s just what I am looking for for my dining room.

Wow! I love that even though the accent wall is darker than the orginal color the room looks soo much lighter. The lamps are FABULOUS! I love the whole thing more than I could ever have imagined.

I also am loving the bedspread – I have been stalling about adding bedding to my bridal registry waiting for stores to come out with their more spring-ish colors, and now I’m definitely considering going with this one instead!

Absolutely love it! Blayne did a great job of putting it all together. I’m completely inspired and motivated to have John and Sherry create a room for me. Thanks for the “after” picture! So fun to see how the mood board translates into reality.

Thanks for all the great comments! The color is Sherwin Williams Hopsack. We did keep the kitties! Especially since now we have the lighter bedspread and their hair doesn’t show up as much! You are right about the room being lighter, I did not even realize how dark it was until it was done.

Thanks for the heads up Rose! There must have been a glitch in the matrix, but we seem to have solved it. Hopefully those pictures are back up for you to enjoy!

Wow it looks great. Will you please share where you got your curtains from? and in what shade? I absolutely love them. They would look great in my bedroom.

I just found this site by accident. Wow..so much info..will take some time to go through. I have the ugliest bathroom in the state (just bought house) and sure could use some suggestions. What should I do next?
#2: When you hang curtains over the inside-mount white wooden blinds, do I remove the ugly clip-on valance?

    love this website!

We usually remove the valance when we hang curtains, and as for the bathroom, maybe paint first and then pick a window treatment, then bring in art and accessories? Good luck!
