Reader Redesign: Radiant Redo

When Frances sent these photos of her recent living room makeover our way, we couldn’t wait to share the eye candy. Here’s her letter:

I’m a huge fan of your site and what you do. For that reason, I wanted to introduce myself and submit these photos of a recent project that I completed in a one bedroom co-op in Great Neck, NY. I hope you find it worthy to feature on your site. It would be a huge treat for me.

Here are a few of my sources: Wall Color: Benjamin Moore Silken Pine, All Drapery: Pottery Barn, Drapery Hardware and woven shades: The Shade Store, Living/entry way rugs: Decora Rugs, Entry Way mirror: Source Perrier, Entry Way console: Mitchell Gold, Entryway Chair: Ballard Designs, Entertainment Unit: Stickley Furniture, Sofa and Reading Chair: TCS Designs, Cocktail Table: Hickory Chair, Ceramic Stool: Wisteria, Floor Lamp: Pottery Barn, Desk Lamp: Z Gallerie, Accessories: Target, Home Goods, Ikea, Z Gallerie, Dransfield & Ross.

Thanks for all the tips and great reading! Keep up the great work!  -Frances

Is that not a stunning transformation? We even think it’s a bit reminiscent of one of our favorite designers, Candace Olson. In a word: fab. We’ve eyed that canvas above the sofa at Ikea a million times, and it looks just as amazing as we always pictured it would up on the wall in a soft and serene living space. Deeeelicious!

It is stunning! Candice’s last name is spelled with two o’s by the way: Olson. I just posted today about my family room transformation, and I used her wallpaper, that’s why I noticed it in your post. Loved this reveal, and your site!

Question for you guys….I have blue carpet (close to the color of the blue vase on the cofee table in the above photo) in all the bedrooms in my house, and have no idea what paint colors will work with it…any ideas??? Wish I could replace the carpet, but it’s not in the budget!

      Hey Susan,

Tan and white and cream always look lovely with blue so that’s what I’d suggest. Maybe a sandy tan on the walls with crisp white trim and then you can bring varying blue tones in with other accessories to tie it all together (and maybe even add greens or icy lavender tones as well). Happy decorating!

      xoxo,
      Sherry
