Oh Brother! (Or Sister?)

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is currently under construction. Our new addition is expected on May 19th. We’re thrilled, even though a certain someone won’t be the baby anymore…

BurgerBigBrother

Yup, Sherry’s got a proverbial bun in her proverbial oven. And we couldn’t be more elated to share the news with you guys! More details to follow on Friday (so ask any and all q’s and we’ll answer as many as we can at the end of the week).

Until then it’s back to before & afters and DIY ideas- we’re nothing if not home obsessed…

    WOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!

Prepare for some fun! I felt like I was getting this news from a dear friend when I found out this afternoon; I’m a daily YHL reader. I hope Sherry is feeling well (I had morning-er all day- sickness for 9 whole months), and that you guys are already feelin’ the love from your little (tiny) one. Go mama, go daddy!

I’m looking forward to seeing how the baby changes things in Casa Petersik. My guess is that things won’t change too drastically, but you never can tell with babies. Having a 10 month old and still working on our house, we’re proud to say that the only major change is that one room is a totally baby-safe nursery and we have two gates up to keep him from wandering into the living spaces without supervision (although he does spend time with us there, we keep a close watch during those times). There are zero fisher price lights-and-sirens-and-whistles toys, albeit there are other toys, and he is very well adjusted and our house doesn’t look or sound like a daycare (ALLELUIA!).

I recommend reading up on the Montessori Prepared Home Environment for inspiration on developmentally sound ideas for the house. I’d be happy to e-mail a diagram (?) of a suggested nursery set-up for a Montessori home (if you are interested; we’ve really loved the Montessori approach).

Finally, for some labor/delivery reading, I HIGHLY recommend reading “Easy Labor” it gives a very comprehensive look at all the options in pain management for the birth, and I felt very prepared/at-ease after reading it that I knew what was available for me during labor.

Enjoy every minute (except for those when your nauseated and exhausted…well maybe those too ;) It’s truly a miracle! I am looking for some nursery design help so can’t wait to see what you come up with! PS–anyone know a good place to get plain white, good quality and reasonably priced crib bedding????

    Congratulations on the new addition.

My biggest question is this: How much will your projects change with the addition of a baby.

I know sometimes I look at your wonderful ideas and think that would look great for about two seconds until my one and a half year old twin manimals come along and break it :)
