Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Aaaggghhhh!!!! Squeee! I was hoping that I detected in the past few posts Sherry looking a little different. SO happy for your guys. I wish you all the very best, and a safe and happy pregnancy and delivery. And now you can stop saying that you have a “Potential” nursery. ;)
    Blessings guys,

Congratulations! I had my second child in February, and my first in June 2011. For what it’s worth, I wanted to throw out something that was so helpful this time around: a doula. We, too, were faced with a more “medical” delivery than the first and it was really scary. Our doula stepped in as an objective third party who worked regularly with the doctors and nurses at that hospital… just to be there for us (my husband as much as me). Best of luck and I will be thinking of you and putting some positive vibes out there for you all!

I was wondering how long you were trying before you were able to conceive. I am curious because my husband and I have been trying for a few months and it seems all of a sudden everyone is pregnant….except for us :/

I realize that I’m the 4 zillionth comment and you’re probably sick of reading, but I couldn’t resist saying congrats. I too am preggo with our second (due in Feb) so it will be even more fun to read about your journey! Thanks for choosing to share so much of your life with us readers – I saw that you’ve had some negative comments over Photoshopgate (honestly, people!) You choose to open your home to us every day, and the honesty and simplicity with which you present yourselves is what makes 79,000 people feel as though you’re their friends. You’re doing great work and I couldn’t be happier for you!

Can I ask a dumb question? I know you said the site ran too slowly when you auto-notified people about replies to their questions. But is there a way to auto-number the comments, so it would be easier to find our original question and check back for answers on our own?

That’s a good idea! Our current comment plug-in doesn’t offer that option, but others have recommended remembering what page your comment is on and then doing a command F when you’re on that page (a search) for your name, and your comment should pop right up. Hope it helps!

I discovered your blog after my 1st was born (October 2009). We had bought our first house the following Spring and I was looking for ideas to decorate the new nursery. The post I found was the butterfly mobile…and I have been following your blog ever since.

I am currently expecting my 3rd (early March)…and now I am super excited for your posts about doing a new nursery :) I love how your spaces evolve and come together.

Oh yeah, and Congrats :) Baby news is the happiest news.

Great post! You are so kind! I also just wanted to point out that I’m so very happy that Clara knows all of the words to any Adam Levine song! This just further adds to how awesome you guys are!! My girls haven’t quite got ALL the words down, but they love rocking out to “Moves Like Jagger”. You guys rock my socks off!

I somehow got into the thread where some folks were giving you a hard time for photoshopping your belly out of the picture. Good grief, people, they were trying to keep a secret until they were ready to make the announcement. Don’t judge if you have never had a difficult pregnancy/birth. Again, congratulations! As a grandmother, there’s nothing better than a new baby. Well wishes for a great pregnancy and an incredible birth.

I’m so excited for you! Sherry, when I was pregnant with Z I had all day sickness for more than half of the pregnancy. Ginger capsules really helped, as did SeaBands. I thought the SeaBands were a silly idea, but my FNP suggested them and gosh darn if they didn’t really help reduce the nausea. Good luck! I wish the 5 of you all the best!

With Clara we found out and showed up to a family party (Christmas gathering) with pink cookies and said ta-da! So I think something low key (not a party for the reveal, but a little surprise dessert or something could be in the cards).

Hi guys! I have been following your blog sporadically for the last couple of years, and I’m soooooo pleased to hear your fantastic news! I live in the UK and after I had my first little pickle I had more time at home to have a go at a few projects of my own and your blog always inspired me to have a go at things, and gave me a laugh when I was up at 2am! Hope you’re feeling well Sherry and good luck with everything. I will be checking in more often to see how it’s going with the little Bun. Congrats!!

My crazy life kept me away from my blog feeder for way too long apparently, I read your home update post from three days ago and iMessaged my deployed husband, “Sherri is doing a nursery, she’s pregnant!!” My poor husband was baffled, “Who’s Sherri?” was his response. I am even more shocked that I’ve been away from the blogosphere for two months! Congratulations to you all!
