We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

I seem to recall him getting a shirt when he was about to become a brother for the first time… :) Oooohhh and you get to do the photo project all over again! Aww…I’ve always loved the fact that your gorgeous girl is so similar to mine, just a year younger. Seeing her go through stages (even hair lengths…lol…) reminds me of all our stages and good times too.
Now Clara’s going to have a younger sibling (I am rooting for a sister, cos that’s what we have!) with a similar age gap as my daughter! My second daughter was born in April this year :)
I have to say, it’s an AWESOME age gap. I am sure that Clara is going to be a fabulous big sister and love every second of it. My DD has surprised and absolutely delighted us with how much she adores her little sister. We knew she’d enjoy it, but the depth of her love for her little sister is beyond anything we could comprehend.

Sherry – I’d love to know what the painting/DIY/reno plan is while you are pregnant. Will you avoid certain things? The info out there on painting etc. is conflicting and would love to know what you did when you were pregnant with Clara and will do now (with so much still to do!)

That is so stinking awesome, guys! Congrats to you! Clara will love being a big sister, maybe not always ;) but most of the time! It’s always great to hear good news and I wish you the best. :) It is so sad that you had to field so many rude comments from people who don’t understand how important privacy is, even for “public” people. Those first few months are scary and it’s even a little scary when your out of that “danger zone.” It’s just a home blog, people. Take your Bully Pants off and relax!
