Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Awesome sauce!!!!! Congrats!!! So exciting! I wanted to respect your privacy but I was so wondering! I love both of your writing so it didn’t matter but it seemed like johns been posting more ;)

    My super curiousity questions:
-are you going to do the pics again? Maybe a project 365 this time??
-are you doing a scheduled C-section? I had three! The second and third were WAY better!!
-is this your super secret project you were talking about during last weeks bloggiversary??? That’s a big project!!

Congrats and best wishes!! So happy for your family!

Yay congrats for you guys!! Were you worried about people around Richmond seeing you pregnant and spoiling it online? I had a hunch when you posted a picture of your house recently from an evening walk and it looked like there was a light on in the “potential nursery” upstairs… I was wondering if you have been doing any prep work in there since finding out!

    Best of luck!

Aw, you and Katie Bower are pregnant together again :) I am due March 25th with my second. My first, Will, is going to be 3.5 when the baby is born. It will be fun to see updates on how Clara is doing with the baby since I will be going through the same thing. Will isn’t very excited yet. He keeps telling me “I want no one else in this house, just mommy, daddy and Will.” Hopefully the excitement kicks in later on…

Yay!! So happy for you guys-congrats!! :) I highly recommend hypnobirthing. I had an awesome instructor who was also my Doula, they can help with traumatic first birth experiences. If you do something different this time around-water birth is amazing! So peaceful and gentle, it was a perfect 1st experience for me (I did it at a birth center with my midwife). Blessings on your family and baby on the way! XX

What a blessing, congratulations to your family! I am due with my first on Easter (April 20). It’s been so hard to be sick at work and have to keep my bean a secret. We just told family and close friends this past weekend and it was so fun to share the news. I wish you the best over the next 7 months and pray you don’t have any complications. Take Care! I’m excited to see what you do with the new nursery!!!

Like, are you going to find out the gender/tell the interwebs, any cravings, how Clara took the news/does she understand what it means? Can’t wait for the next 6 months of baby posts and beyond! Praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy and birth x

Oh, I have some questions too!
-Have you had any weird cravings? I am also due in April and just had my first and my husband really pulled through…Dirt Cake, you know chocolate pudding layered with crushed oreos, whipped cream and gummy worms
-With Clara did you find out the gender at the doctor’s appointment or did you do the envelope thing and open it with fanfare? I did see that you made ginger girl cookies, which were super cute. Our family is pushing for a gender reveal party, but I think it might be fun for my husband and I to find out together before.
-Will you be doing weekly or monthly bump photos? I’ve take a 4 week and 10 week so far, but I think in the last day or two I started getting a “real” bump.

    Take Care!

Yay! Yay! Whoop whoop!. So excited for you guys. My baby brewing days are over. I’m raising 3 kids 4yrs, 6yrs & 8yrs, so I love to live through others with newborns. I’m so excited where all this new stuff in your lives will take the blog. I’m so sorry to read all the nasty comment stuff. I totally missed it and kind of glad I did. It was quite intense, the quick bit I grabbed from your link earlier. I’m all for your new comment policy, great idea. Like you say “its only decorating” I personally come here for entertainment and ideas, not drama! We feel like we know you as friends, because you guys are so generous with your lives, but even friends I actually know I wouldn’t treat like that! It’s no ones business what personal decisions you make and when IE getting pregnant. I’m just really thankful that you guys choose to share your lives in that way with us, because it really makes this blog so much more enjoyable for me.Finally, as others have said, you have handled your comments with such grace and dignity & I am sure it was hard to handle in your office, but together the final product that we see is so inspiring. Forget the trolls and believe in yourselves, so many more of us think you’re doing an awesome job & really appreciate it.

I’m also a little blown away at the nasty hateful few over on your day in the life post. I’ve followed yall forever and never seen such! Th so is supposed to be my happy place!! I’m appalled at the inconsideration and boldness of people. And the fact that someone used an anonymous name, what a coward. Sorry u had to deal with that.
