Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Yay!! I’m so excited for you! And super excited that I’m due with my second bean in April (the 5th) too!! I told my husband we where really bffs now and of course he made some sarcastic comment about me saying that wasn’t creepy at all.

I’m due with my second on the 7th! (My FIL’s birthday is 4/5, though, so he’s rooting for the 5th). So many April babies among the readership here! Woohoo!

    Congratulations guys!!

Will you be buying some newborn cloth diapers for this little one? Are you going to be able to use Clara’s diapers for the new babe once he/she fits into them, or will you need to repair them/buy new ones?

Yay!! CONGRATULATIONS Petersiks! Such exciting news! And so many questions! How did you tell John? Clara? Your families? Katie B? Will you be sharing nursery decorating ideas? Ok I’ll stop.

Thanks for sharing this news with your readers…we’re excited to share in this journey with you. Wishing you a blessed, healthy and healing pregnancy and birth :)

Do you ever feel like you have to share major milestones (like a baby announcement!) because this has become such a document of your history together you’d feel guilty for omitting? I love reading your blog, mostly for the home updates – but its your personalities that keep me engaged, not just the paint colors you picked. I can’t wait for the Clara Conversations that come from this news! Thanks for keeping it real by waiting for that safe-to-share milestone to pass before posting your business on the web. Haters gonna hate, Petersiks are gonna paint (a nursery!)

Anywho, we’re both super excited for you and so excited that your new baby bean and baby bower will be around the same age!!! Happy Happy Happy!

Ahhhhhh! So freaking excited for you all! Just re-read Clara’s birth story. I am a NICU mom, who also had a complicated “birth story” and spent 4 weeks on hospital bed rest. My beautiful, healthy, boy/girl twins are now 10 months and the center of my universe. I can’t believe how far they have come since their birth day. Thanks for sharing your story. It is so important for people to understand. Ok now for the good stuff….

What are the odds that a placental abrasion will occur again?

What are the odds of a cord prolapse will occur again?

Who is more excited that you’re pregnant…. John, or katie?!?!?! ;)

I’m due in mid-April and just came out to my boss this week. I’d hoped to hide it for another month since I’m planning a big event at the of the month and I didn’t want the news to distract from that. I decided to out myself after the 4th person at work asked me if I was pregnant. Who are these people who think it’s their business before we’re ready to share the news?

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS! I am so thrilled for all of you! Babies are wonderful news, and I hope that your pregnancy continues to go well and that you have a safe delivery with no complications. I hope that Clara loves being a big sister! And I LOVE Burger’s shirt! Too funny!

Second of all, I KNEW IT! I am totally not one of those secret stalkers who looks at pictures of your belly and accuses you of photoshopping it. I don’t pay that much attention. I just had a hunch. Not sure why. But I am amused that my hunch was right. However, I do feel kind of bad because I made a comment on one of your blogiversary posts about how I was surprised that people didn’t ask if you were pregnant. I totally wasn’t fishing for info, I swear! I just know it has, for some reason, been a hugely serious deal where people ask constantly and assume you’re pregnant all the time. So much to the point that you had to ask people to stop asking. But I still feel bad. I’m sorry!

Anyway, I can’t wait to see nursery makeover posts!!! :-)

    Congratulations again!

    Congrats from “down under” guys.
Been following you for a little while from Australia. Absolutely adore what u do & can’t believe the amount of crap you sometimes have to deal with by some of your followers. The first 3mths of a pregnancy is a very private & stressful moment & it’s totally understandable that you would want to keep it that way.
Personally when I read your blog I’m more interested in ur projects/tips/makeover than checking u out (no offense Sherry – lol).
Keep up the hard work but don’t overdo it Sherry ;-), you now have a little one to think about as well (which I’m sure u can’t stop thinking about already).

Congratulations, even though my bean is over a year old I still start to tear up any time I hear baby news. The day I met my daughter was one of the all time best days of my life and I get so excited knowing others are going to go through the same amazing, albeit exhausting and overwhelming, experience. I had a very difficult time with my pregnancy, one thing was getting rear ended on the highway at a very high speed. It is so sad that people cant understand what an amazing and scary time this is as a mom, I hope the negativity of any posts don’t diminish the joy of the next 6+ months!!

What great news, Petersiks! I was in a car accident at 9 weeks (head-on, airbags deployed), but the doctor explained the first trimester is probably the best time for an accident like that. (The baby is so well padded in there!) Plus, I’d rather have a baby in the oven than out for his/her own protection during a car accident.

We just shared our news on facebook (due mid-March). It’s so fun to share our joy with everyone; I’m sure you’re feeling the love ten-fold.

My question- Did you tell anyone early? How did you tell Clara and Katie and your other family and friends?

My first comment :) First of all, Congratulations! So excited for you and your family. Here are my questions:

1- How did you tell Clara and your family? Any pinterest inspired creativity? What were their reactions?

2- I realize this will eventually be a post…or probably many posts! But, what are you current thoughts/inspirations/ideas for the nursery? Or are you waiting to find out the gender?

3- WILL you find out the gender? What is Clara hoping for?

4- What are you craving and how are you feeling? :)

Ok, I think that’s it for my nosy questions for your Friday follow up. Feel free to ignore any and all. And congratulations again! Praying for a great, healthy pregnancy and baby!

Happy and fearless, even of “creepy” bugs. Now after 25 years I still carry that passion as an equestrian and horses are my life! (Don’t let her catch horse fever, it is expensive!) Congrats! I have a 1 yr old boy who happens to have Clara’s birth story–like verbatim. In fact, sometimes when people ask me what happened I just send them to your post. Praying you will be part of the 75% that doesn’t have a second abruption. I know my next pregnancy will be high risk and so I’m curious to see how it goes for you. Sometimes I consider the idea of inducing so that I’m for sure at the hospital during labor, ready for whatever may happen. Have you considered thoughts like this?
