Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

SO happy for you guys! As someone who isn’t 100% sure if I want kids or not, watching your parenting and successful balance of everything is inspiring and just plain fun!

Any thoughts about letting Clara name the bean this go around?? I mean, she’s proven herself worthy with such names as Gee and Collie :) Haha, just kidding, but it would be fun to hear any ideas she has!

    Wonderful news!

I have been a labour and delivery nurse for over 20 years and I have never seen a mother go through what you did with Clara twice. Each pregnancy is different and so is the delivery. They will keep an eye on you, but things will go smoothly
    enjoy!

I didn’t think this news could get better until I read the “MORE PETERSIKS!” comment.

Yes. Yes that is what this means. And more Petersiks is exactly what the world needs. More Petersiks more better.

Picture me singing some modified Jackie DeShannon for the rest of the evening. And all my good vibes are aimed at y’all as I’m singing. Congrats congrats congrats!

Congratulations! That is wonderful news and I’m so happy for your family!!! I know this comes not too long after you posted about viewers using discretion and not asking whether or not you are pregnant. I’m sorry you even had to write that post, and I definitely know how you feel. Every couple has their own circumstances for if and when they have children, and it is very insensitive for people to pry on what may be a touchy topic. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and we have chosen to delay having kids because of finances and schooling. It has been really difficult for me in particular as I have very strong maternal instincts. Sometimes I worry that life will keep throwing us curve balls and it will never happen. You can imagine how many times people have asked about having children over an 8 year span, particularly because our faith is very family centric and couples usually have a lot of children. I feel like the “bad” couple. Anyway, eventually I’ll come up with some creative responses, but right now I just try to avoid the subject.

I’m always thankful you do, because I feel like I know you guys (creepy much?) :) and I feel privileged to read these happy life posts! I hope pregnancy treats you well Sherry and I can’t wait to read on. Congratulations Petersiks!!!

First off, Sherry you are adorable and I am so excited for you and John! We’re expecting our second little one in November, so currently 34 weeks pregnant. I am so exhausted! What do you do to recharge/find time to connect with this pregnancy? I remember obsessing over every detail of my first pregnancy but with this one I’m so busy the time has just flown by. I’m feeling guilty that this baby is already not getting as much attention as the first. Do you have any ideas/projects planned to help make the new baby feel special?

As a mom of 8, I can say that without a doubt, your heart doubles in size each time. When I had my second child, I was actually a little worried, because I couldn’t imagine how I could love another child as much as I loved my little girl. Yet when he was born, it was INSTANT love! It was so great! I’m so, so happy for all of you! Congratulations!

I am a fellow Prolapsed Cord/Emergency C-section/high-risk pregnancy mama, and I know that was probably one of the most traumatic events of your life. I was so filled with fear in a subsequent pregnancy, and it brought back lots of hard memories. I wish the snarky commenters could understand that are on sacred ground here!)

I do have to admit, during the Q & A video I was wondering with all the pony-tail flipping during the question about the “best part of this year.” Not a good poker face, Sher-dog!!

I don’t generally comment, although I read everysingleword of everysinglepost you guys write. Even though I’m not in your most popular demographic (in my 40’s…errr….almost 50’s LOL) BUT I had to share that I had happy tears on your behalf today at your news. I am expecting my first grandchild in a few short weeks, and so perhaps I am more than a little emotional over the whole event. I almost texted my expectant daughter (who started me on the whole YHL addiction), to say, hey! did you see that John and Sherry are having another baby? And then I stopped and thought, she’s going to think I’m nuts. (Well, she already does, thus I try not to contribute to this any more than necessary.) Anyway, approximately .272 minutes later, she texted me and said, “DID YOU SEE THE YHL NEWS TODAY? I cried a bit, I think it’s pregnancy hormones or something.” So, I comment today to say, you made not only the hormonal 36-week-pregnant momma-to-be cry today, but her momma too. Gosh, you’d think WE were related to YOU guys or something. Congrats! :-D
