Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Oh my goodness, congratulations John, Sherry, Clara, and Burger!

I just love all of you guys, and reading this made me so happy!

I’ll be praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy, delivery, baby and Mama!

SO excited for you all! =D

Many happy congratulations to your family! I’m ECSTATIC to hear the good news and hope that the pregnancy goes well for both and that you have a healthy infant :)

Love how this pregnancy corresponds with the Bowers; meant to be! Maybe this time it’s a boy and they are having a girl?! lol

Lastly, I am a medical student so am interested in the clinical aspect. Here’s my question: Because this is a high risk pregnancy, what will you be doing different in order to maintain the health of the mother and child? Has the doctor mentioned certain exercises (other than Kegel), food, medications or just for you, Sherry, to relax more often (spa/massage)?

YAY! SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!! Congratulations!
Can I also say that I read the day in the life post and had no idea you had photoshopped a thing (too busy looking at the gorgeous light fixture). Can we see some real bump pictures soon?!?!?!?! :):)

Congratulations!! I look forward to seeing how your decorate the nursery. Have you looked into using the hypnobabies program for both at all? It focuses on using deep relaxation and have a fear clearing tract that might be extremely beneficial to you given your last birth experience.

As a fellow Prego (our second bun is due in March) I definitely sympathize with the morning/all-day sickness. Here’s hoping that’s all done, and you have an easy breezy and SAFE rest of your pregnancy. Congratulations to Team Petersik!!!!!!

Congratulations!!! As I was scrolling down to leave my comment, I noticed other comments… Which led me back to your blogiversary page. I cannot get over that people looked hard enough and accused you of photoshopping your belly. So, so crazy to me! So sorry you guys have to deal with that constantly.

On a happier note, I am so stinkin’ excited for you guys! I guess my nosey question would be- did you tell Katie B about your pregnancy when she told you about hers? My husband and I always go back and forth… We think we’ll be so excited that we’ll want to tell our parents and best friends immediately… But then part of us wants to wait until the “safe zone” moment. Totally understand if that’s too private to share :) congrats again!

Awww Congrats on the new baby!!! I absolutely love your blog and have been following for the past 4 years or so. I think it’s a shame that people can be so critical and rude re: the Photoshop picture. What’s with some people!?!?! Kudos to you for keeping your head up high, I may have just about went bezerk on them (Eminem style).
I’m wishing you all the best for a safe, healthy pregnancy; it takes a lot to include your readers in your personal life. So thank you! Can’t wait to see your new addition :)

    Congratulations!!

You’ve made several references to your new house as a “forever home.” How did it play into your timing of Bean #2? Did you decide that since you had the new house, you were ready? Or did you dive into the new house because you were already planning? Or did they have nothing to do with each other?

First off, congratulations! Secondly, since you were pretty open talking about Clara’s birth and that experience, I was wondering if you would be sharing at all about your plans for this time around? Is a VBAC an option or not, and if not, how you’re feeling about it. Just curious and it’s an interesting area (your situation sounded like one of the reasons why medical intervention is so incredible). Thanks!

I just had twins and anytime someone tells me they are pregnant now I wonder (for excitement and for fear) if it is twins! It was our third and last baby and happened to be #3 and #4 and I was SOOO much sicker that with the previous two. You seem like you have a great support system though (both in real life and online!). Congratulations! Maybe people can stop bothering you about it now.

Congrats on the pregnancy and don’t let a couple of rotten floorboards wreck your whole house. (Nice play on words, right?)

Sooo happy for your wonderful family! I started to post my congratulations this morning, but I figured, oh, you’ll get SO many congratulations, what’s the point of one more? But I had to come back and check out the total, so far, and decided to chime in – the quest is to break the all-time comment record! Also, the official nickname for the baby, besides “bean #2” has GOT to be “opossum”. (I cracked up over the ‘opossum in the basement’ comment!)

Congrats, Sherry and John! I am happy for you. I am 35 weeks along with my second baby boy (my older son turned 2 last weekend) and I am pretty scared because of the birth. So I think I can relate to what you must sometimes feel like.
I don’t want to ask anything too personal, but something that I asked myself a lot already: will you, Sherry, maybe learn to drive again/take lessons or anything since you said you do not drive anymore? I guess with two children, and no public transport in front of your door, it will be very hard on John if he is the designated driver all the time, no? And I personally wouldn’t want to wait for an emergency (like John is not there for some reason or injured or something) to see if I still can manage. I admit I have asked myself when I read about your average day how much more productive it could have been if John did not have to do all the driving.
Anyway, congrats again and an uneventful pregnancy!

WOOOOO congrats!! I think it would be cute to interview Clara (like you did for blogiversary), she’s so entertaining and I bet she’ll start having some funny thoughts on being a big sister. You should get her the book “How to Be a Baby” it’s really funny and also great for explaining babies to big siblings. Anyway I think a Clara video once you find out if it’s a boy or girl (if you choose to share) would be a hit!
