Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Congratulations! Can’t wait to hear all about the baby journey!! And people are so rude-I read the other post you linked to. Who cares if you photoshopped something? And my husband and I talk about future kids all the time and call a room in our house the future nursery as well but we aren’t planning to start trying until next June! Just because you talk about it, doesn’t mean it’s immenent.

Congratulations on your new addition!!!! I had a very high-risk pregnancy and delivery with both of my children (ages 2 and 5 months), including bed rest, complications, and a pair of scary c-sections. Luckily, my two little men and I are happy and healthy and none the worse for wear. If you ever want to chat with another mom that’s “been there,” please feel free to shoot me an email. I’m from northern VA so I’m sort of in your neck of the woods. Best of luck!!!

btw — I feel the need to overshare a bit myself and tell you how inspiring I find you both! I quit my job on the 20th, my 6 figure job actually, to follow my business dreams. Part of what gave me the push was the years I’ve been following your blog (so long I remember when you both worked full-time!)

I wanted more time for my family and needed to create an environment for my life to be what I visualized…not what I was forced to do with 10 hour days and an hour each way commute! As a single parent, it was a huge step, but I knew it could not only be done but that the rewards (the ones that are important to me) would be HUGE!

I feel like I know you guys, how weird is that? But, probably pretty normal in today’s blogging world! So, when I tell you I feel real joy for you both with the addition to your family, it might not sound SO weird :)

And when I read this post and gasped and was, just so happy for all of you. Because your family had become dear to all of your readers and we wish you a healthy and safe delivery! I’ll be keeping you and the babe in my prayers, Sherry. I can’t imagine what the thought process must be like for you with baby #2 after the way Clara made her grand entrance. Here’s to a completely…uneventful (?)…pregnancy and birth!

No questions, just wanted to say that I’m stupidly happy for two people I don’t even “know”! Our pregnancies overlapped when you were pregnant with Clara, which was what made me become a loyal reader. I’m always amazed at how well y’all juggle all aspects of parenthood, and it inspires me try to keep up! I also went through some birth trauma, so I hope you talk more about your feelings surrounding that and your hopes/fears for this little one. Hugest congratulations!!! I was one contraction away from having my second baby in the car and was pretty traumatized by it. I spent a lot of time worrying about my third delivery which went off without a hitch. I’ll be praying that you don’t spend an ounce of energy worrying about your delivery, because I know how easy it can be to go down that path. Best wishes for an easy pregnancy and an even easier (and uneventful) delivery. Hugs to you all!

I think today’s post broke the internet!

As a Labor & Deliery RN, I have been extra sensitive to your experienced the same traumatic delivery numerous times (although on the other side). But one thing that I love about your blog, is seeing families before and after a baby’s birth…it helps me to reflect on that when dealing with my patients, and vowing to give them the best care possible.
So, my heartfelt congratulations to the entire family, and wishing Sherry a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery!

Congratulations to all of you! Can’t believe the rudeness of some poster’s comments on your other post about your stomach, as a fellow preggo (21 weeks!) I totally get why you’d want to cover up bumpy photos in the first trimester. I popped out pretty quickly (bloooooat!) so it was really tough to cover up whilst acting like nothing is going on when all you want to do is shout from the rooftops!

Hope you’re feeling OK and you’re not struggling to keep up with projects too much, we’re doing out the nursery right now and I have to sit down for a little rest every hour as I’m just so tired all the time! Waiting for this mythical energy burst that was supposed to have hit already!
