Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

    Congratulations!

    It’s odd, because just this morning, I was DIYing a decal in my sons’ room, and I was thinking of you guys (you’re my DIYspiration) and a sudden Petersik pregnancy vibe struck me. I don’t normally contemplate such things, being that I am well aware that other people’s uteri are none of my business. However, I was a little stunned to read your wonderful news this afternoon.

    I will keep everything crossed that you have a happy and healthy 9 months.

    Eeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

    I’m so thrilled!!! I literally squeeled at work, then ran into a private office to call my husband and tell him that I probably shouldnt be this excited but… YHL is preggers. He said- “that IS exciting!”. Even more exciting is I’m pregnant with my first and also due in April!!

    Congrats and can’t wait to hear more about your expanding family!!

    Congratulations! I love babies and I love hearing that a new one is coming.
    I am glad I am in my 50’s and don’t recognize Photoshop from a candy shop! I would never give those crazy commenters a forum. Their comments would never see the sun – straight to trash! You don’t have to give equal opportunities to
    mean people.Anyway…
    I’d love to hear again what products you are using to clean. How long doe sit take? One day or spread out over many. You have a lot more house to keep up now. What toilet will get the diapers rinser? What do you think you need to do in the six months? Another shorter list?
    I believe in prayer so I’m keeping all of you in mine.

    Woohoo so stoked for you guys!! (Shocked at the rude comments people make too) Will you cloth diaper again, if so which style/brand do you prefer? I’d love to follow along on young house life in regards to baby gear and how you choose to keep things simple/minimal.

    So, so very pleased for all of you!!! I also started tearing up. I was just speaking to someone about how excited my older son was when his brother came home from the hospital, Clara must be giddy ;-). Ours are 4.5 years apart and the very best of friends – siblings rock :-).

    Just wanted to add my name to the well-wishers and shouts of CONGRATULATIONS!! Your pregnancy posts about Clara were so helpful for me when I was pregnant with my first daughter and had such a positive effect on our ‘first-time parents’ life: cloth diapers, no-sew curtains and crib skirt, Baby Led Weaning, etc. I am happy to report we now have another daughter – two weeks old – and are excited about doing all these things with her as well!! All because of you two. BIG thanks!! (and now I’m in tears)

    I posted once but was having connection issue, I apologize if I’m double posting and making more work but I just really wanted to send my congrats to you three!

    Such a happy day! I was one of the many it seems who never having met you was still in tears of joy when I first read the post title!

    We had some similar scares with each of our kids and each time every twinge and thought was followed by a battle to not let fear shadow the joy of each pregnancy.
    Praying this time around for you is without complications and you all are surrounded by peace as you bring the newest Petersik into this wonderful world!

    Congratulations you guys!!! Really wonderful news! I didn’t read the post about Clara’s birth until about a week ago and was just a ball of tears. But then that got me wondering when Clara would become a big sister, and funnily the title of yesterday’s post (containing “Baby”) made me suspicious. Ha! Guess I have ESP ;) Very happy for your family!

      Totally #2. I get it completely if you don’t feel comfortable to share, but in this long process for some (including me sadly) any words of wisdom or hope or showing you are a success story would be great!

    I am so happy for you! I am also a mommy to a amazing 5 month old son. I remember reading your post way back about Clara’s birth story. How did you decide it was time to start trying? Were you waiting for a certain point in your life, finding your forever home, or for Clara to be a certain age? I know you mentioned that it was recommended you wait for awhile. I am already getting questions about when I am having my second, LOL.

    Guessing most commenters found out you’re pregnant by reading your blog….

    I, however, got this text from my mom seconds ago:
    “SHERRY IS PREGNANT”

    So in case you’re wondering, there’s a really nice lady in Boston who is ecstatic for you and will happily babysit should the need arise. And although the text would imply otherwise, she’s actually quite sane! ;-)

    This is so wonderful! I can only imagine the joy and fear you have going. Sending well wishes for smooth sailing and a healthy delivery.

    You both are wonderful, and I’m so sorry for the crazy people out there who think they can make crappy comments. I would photoshop too. I had back to back miscarriages and before having the fist one we had shared our news, only to be plagued for MONTHS about the baby we lost first. It sucked.

    Thrilled for you both, for Clara and for you and Katie B to be prego together again!
