Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Congrats! Hoping for a smooth pregnancy and delivery for you! And maybe now people can keep their noses in their own business (I was appalled when I read the thread you linked to in the comments above). Fortunately, you’ve got thousands of others who have waited patiently and are now celebrating with you!

In other news, I’m going to blame John for the fact that I’m hardcore craving a bean burrito…

    Congrats!!
    I have two questions.
One, did you plan for this baby? I know after having such a scary time with the first delivery, deciding to do it again can be hard.

Second, are you planning to have another c-section, or have you considered a vbac?

Sorry if those are too personal, and I understand if you choose to not answer.

I am due to have my second boy in February and had a very scary and unplanned c-section [I have mentioned it on your other post here https://www.younghouselove.com/2011/04/claras-birth-story/comment-page-39/#comments%5D and I am trying to make peace with the very real possibility of another c-section, but it is hard. I have hopes of a vbac and my OB’s are ok with me attempting as long as no new complications come up.

Anyhow, I am super excited for you guys and I hope your pregnancy and delivery [and new baby!] are perfect!

PS are you hoping for a boy?

Congrats! I have a fail proof at home gender test (by fail proof I mean it has worked for 11 out of 11 friends). Put new baking soda in a cup – pee into the cup – if it fizzes up like a soda it is a boy – no reaction it is a girl. It works I swear!

CONGRATS Petersiks! So happy for y’all. Keeping my fingers crossed for an uneventful, easy pregnancy. Feel well, get some rest (and a bunch of ginger candy). This lotion got me through bad morning sickness, something about the lemon oil smell calmed the tummy: http://www.belliskincare.com/pregnancy/All-Day-Moisture-Body-Lotion.asp

    1. That picture of Clara is heart-melting. What a complete cutie. She’s going to be a terrific big sister! I can’t wait to see her in action.
    2. I hope you guys don’t let any of the negativity of late (regarding your pictures, etc.) spoil even one second of your joy. This is such an amazing time in your life, and you are so kind to let all of us share in this happiness with you.
    3. I love you guys. Period.

I’m excited to see Clara as a big sister, as well as another round of building a nursery. I’d love to hear (if you want to share) about how you told Clara, and about what thoughts you’ve had thus far about the nursery.

You have me so trained on not speculating about the state of the uterus, that I totally figured you guys were getting another pet. Since you sometimes refer to Burger as Clara’s big brother. I had to scroll down to see that Clara was getting a human sibling.

Congratulations, that’s so exciting! I’m due in three weeks with our first, and I am also high risk. It’s really not too bad — in fact I get a lot of really close monitoring and I have more sonogram pictures of this little one than most people have the first year! It’s nice to get all the extra attention and know that if something is wrong you can get help ASAP. Good luck to you all!

Congrats and many prayers for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery … though I will warn you, once you have 2, you may need to have some extra help around the house if you want to get anything done. I feel like projects on our 100 year old house have all but halted since #2 arrived 18-months ago. But it is loads of fun anyway!

I can’t wait to see what you do with the nursery. It’ll be cool to see what you change up and what you consider your baby staples.

For the nausea might I recommend magnesium lotion? When you’re preggers you don’t absorb magnesium as well, so a slight deficiency can cause morning/all day sickness. Epsom salt baths can help too since it’s better absorbed through your skin.

Congratulations, Petersik family! I know that this must be a very emotional time for you right now, so just remember to keep the baby happy. This means that Sherry, you must share what the baby demands, and John, you must make it so. I didn’t find you guys until after you had Clara, so I’m excited to share in your joy this time around.
