Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

CONGRATULATIONS! I have a daughter who is just a couple months older than Clara and I’ve so enjoyed following your blog and seeing how Clara and my daughter are so similar. Emma became a big sister in April of this year and it has been an absolute joy to see our two girls interact. Emma loves being a big sister and helping with everything she can. I have 2 questions for you: 1) was this planned? and 2) how did you tell clara and what was her reaction? I guess that’s technically three questions…oh well. :) Congrats again!!!

      ” 1) Was this planned?”

Really? Is this any of our business?

Congrats to the Petersiks. Wishing you a smooth pregnancy until you met your new family addition.

When Katie B. announced her pregnancy and mentioned friends that were struggling to get pregnant and how sad it made her, I wondered if you guys were in that group. If you were, I’m so glad that you finally had success. How far apart will your babies be in age?

Will all your work be done before your due date or will the be a lot of working on that project before and after the next bean arrives?

Congratulations!! That is so exciting, I’m so happy for you guys. Was it hard making the decision to have another biological child, knowing it would be high risk? I imagine it was difficult for Sherry (well, and John too!!)to overcome the emotional trauma of Clara’s scary birth, and the fear of it all happening again. What will change about her pre-natal care and birthing experience as a result of the high-risk pregnancy? Can’t wait to see all of the crafty baby-related projects and what the new baby’s nursery ends up looking like! Do you have any thoughts, ideas or inspiration for the nursery conjured up yet? (Whoa, that was a lot of questions – apparently I’m having a curious morning!!) Congrats, again!
