Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

When my cousin texted me this morning asking if I’d read today’s post yet I had a feeling this would be the announcement! She doesn’t usually text about regular posts. haha Congratulations you guys! So exciting! <3

I hope your morning sickness goes away soon Sherry. That is my worst nightmare. I'm so scared that if I ever get pregnant that I'll have morning sickness. I'm pretty sure I have emetophobia. :P

Bonus to being pregnant for you: no more speculation that you are pregnant when you aren't! That must have been SO ANNOYING!

Congratulations! I know how it is to go through a rough first tri (our little bean will be arriving in January :). Hang in there, Sherry! I’ve been on a painting hiatus since I found out I was pregnant, but you’re comment about Sherry painting got me thinking. Is the whole idea of no-painting-while-pregnant outdated?

Congratulations Petersik family!!! BIG hugs to you all & cuddles to Burger, my favorite! ;0)

Please, PLEASE don’t answer anyone else’s questions about whether or not you photoshopped yourself or if you’ve been “hinting” at this news (they obviously haven’t people! The birth of their first bean was very stressful & they’ve made it ridiculously clear that their staying quiet until it’s safe!!!) or any other overly nosy questions – it’s none of their stinkin’ business! I get SO angry when I see people invade other’s privacy like that, acting completely entitled to do so just because of what you do for a living… It’s rude & they shouldn’t be indulged! Just my two cents. You two are wonderful people, I LOVE your blog & I think that is plenty of information that you share – no one else needs to ask for more!

I’m due mid-March with my fourth “little bean” so it’s kind of fun to be pregnant “with you” Sherry! Like many of your other readers have already said, we’ve never met, we’re essentially strangers but it still didn’t stop me from telling my husband this morning “Hey! Sherry & I are pregnant together!” He was like, “Who?!?” LOL!

I’m sure you’ve tried everything & my “words of wisdom” are moot, but, have you tried eating either Ritz crackers or graham crackers first thing? Like even before you sit up in bed? When I had my worst morning sickness someone gave me that advice, eat crackers (saltines actually made my nausea worse) before you even sit up in the morning, and it actually worked! Just a thought!

Looking forward to the nursery posts & I hope you’re feeling better soon Sherry!

Excited for you! I’m also due next year, around late May with my first! Happy times!

Can I also just say how much I LOVE that John wrote this post (I think he did the last announcement too)? I don’t know what it is… I just see Sherry with a hand on her belly in the background, and John penning a letter to the masses that he’s going to be a dad. Maybe I just appreciate an involved husband when I see it. Mine’s the same way! Haha! Congratulations!

I am so very excited for you guys!! As soon as I saw the post, I texted my sister about it! So funny that you guys feel like friends/family to us even though we’ve never met. I really love and respect all of you, and I will be praying for a smooth pregnancy and delivery! I know it will be different from last time because of your previous difficulty, but I hope it is just as wonderfully joyful! Congrats, Petersiks!!

Also, I just had my first baby in April of this year, and April is such a nice time for it! And I was considered high risk (type 1 diabetes) which was annoying but I never had any issues at all. Praying for the same for you, Sherry!

As I posted to your FB when the website was still crashed from all of the [insert People magazine cover here] “PETERSIK BABY JOY!” – sending my best wishes for a healthy pregnancy, a less-dramatic birth, and a happy baby in April!

My questions for your Q&A (and it’s quite possible some have already been asked, but 22 pages is a LOT of comments to go through, lol): Was planning for Baby Bean a factor in getting this house at this moment in time, so you wouldn’t be moving/pregnant/new-babied at the same time? Which sort of begs the impertinent question – which came first, planning for a baby or purchasing a new house? Did you still have the raging morning sickness during “Day in the Life” blogiversary post? Because that was not documented, you silly things (I’m being cheeky here – heck, you photoshopped a belly pic to keep things on the DL :P)! Is 2014 going to be the year of baby #2 and book baby #2?! If so, does that mean you’ll be on tour with a newborn and we’ll all get to oogle him/her? ;) That will be such a crazy-cool year for you guys!

Okay, done squealing with joy for you guys (my boyfriend thinks I’m nuts… and I should probably get back to work). Can’t wait to read your answers on Friday. YAY BABY!

Oh, one more question for you guys – how does being pregnant affect your ability to DIY? Like, paint fumes you shouldn’t inhale, heavy lifting restrictions (or does John do most of that anyway), etc.?

      Okay, really done now. Promise.

Doubley happy that the bean is healthy, tripley happy that you get to be pregnant again with your BFF Katie.

I will be beaming you happy, healthy pregnancy, birth and baby thoughts, Sherry. Big internet hug, you guys! YAAAAAAY! Hope the “morning” sickness subsides soon, Sherry. You’re going to have to bring back your zen mashed potato visualization technique from Clara’s pregnancy. I’ll be smiling for the rest of the day for your family!

Aw! Yay!!! So so so happy for such a sweet family! Praying all goes well and that the ickiness goes away soon. If you can find some whey protein, Sherry, try mixing it with milk or water, or maybe even almond milk, and see if you can sip it. The protein will help the nausea and keep you full and give you a little energy. Can’t wait to see how cute this kid’ll be!!!!

I am so happy for your family, and I will be praying for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery for you, Sherry.

I hope the invasivness of certain commenters has not diminished your joy over your sweet little bean.

Sherry, I am sure you have explored your options and know your own comfort level, but as someone who has suffered hyperemesis (severe morning sickness) with my pregnancies (I am 30 weeks with my 4th right now), I want to encourage you to ask your doctor about Zofran at a dosage of 8mg (not 4), along with a Unisom/B6 combo at night. As much as I am not a fan of medicating, especially during pregnancy, these have been much studied and provided me great relief. I have been able to actually function and care for my children. Even medicated it has been a rough road, but if you are continuing to suffer through all day nausea, it is worth asking your OB about, if you haven’t already.

Hang in there, Sherry! (And John, because I know that when mama is sick, dad picks up a lot of extra slack!)
