Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

I had this weird feeling your might be pregnant, I have no idea why but it was just like I think Sherry is pregnant because she seemed absent in posts, at least the full body shots. ( i sound so creepy, so sorry about that)

So excited to read this post and for your family!! Congrats!

So happy for all three (and Burger) of you!!! I know Clara will be a wonderful big sister and a real help to you with the baby. My first daughter was 3 and a half when our second daughter arrived. Only problem we had was that she was TOO helpful two weeks before the baby came. I had just scrubbed the kitchen floor for the last time and was exhausted (carrying a 9 pound 10 ounce baby!), so payed down in family room for a nap. Kim was no longer taking naps but I requested she lay down and be quiet while Mommy napped. Well, when I woke up, I discovered she had decided to “help” Mommy clean the floor. She had gotten the bottle of Palmolive dishwashing soap and had squeezed lines of detergent all over the kitchen floor! What a mess. I was back to cleaning the kitchen floor again and it took forever to get all of the mess off the floor. But other than that episode, she was a great big sister and Mommy’s helper, just as I know Clara will be. : ). Can not wait to hear about Clara conversations about the baby! A nd cannot wait to meet the newest bean!!! Much love to you all

Congratulations, Petersik family! What an exciting, wonderful time for you all! Praying for an “easy” pregnancy and birth (morning sickness aside).

And, I am also happy that the nosey speculation about Sherry being pregnant will stop for a while. I’m sure y’all are tired of fielding rude comments and defending your personal choices – I’m tired for you. Some folks have NO CLASS! Y’all have been a fine example of grace through it all.

    God bless you all.

This is so EXCITING! I found your blog last year when I was pregnant, leaving my first job and the Navy was moving us to a new state- far away from my family. You and your family were my constant when my body and life were going through incredible changes.

Congratulations! So excited to hear about your house renovations and the new addition to your family.

Congratulations!!! Hope you get to feeling better soon!

You guys should make a policy about pregnancy comments next year and stop approving them. It seems miserable for you, and it totally hijacks the comments for all the other readers too. We don’t need to see a fight play out in the comments. I know you don’t want to censor too much, but didn’t you use to have something about it not being a place for snark? Maybe you could send an auto response or something. I’m all about keeping it real, but it’s your blog and you have to look out for your family’s happiness too.

If that doesn’t work, just get some inspiration from a famous fellow NJ native: “Haters gonna hate, but I just love, love, love.”

Aw thanks Sarah! We’ve thought about not approving those stir-the-pot comments since they’re obviously just there to… stir the pot! But I think in the end we don’t want people to think that we only let happy comments full of love and praise through, so it’s nice to just let everything pop up. People definitely have some strong opinions about the choices we make, but at the end of the day it’s our house and our life, so we just have to do what works for us and everyone else can have their opinions. Just because they get approved doesn’t mean we can’t agree to disagree!

Update: After hearing this sentiment from so many of you guys today (both via comments and emails) we chatted over dinner and agree that you all have a good point. There’s definitely a difference between welcoming respectful and constructive disagreement and comments that are left solely to provoke others, be malicious, or distract from the purpose of this site. We’d never want people who come here for fun and encouragement (it’s only decorating!) to feel let down by any unnecessary drama, so we’re updating our comment policy. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the update, Sherry! It is such an amazing little corner of the internet you both have created and cultivated, and there’s a different vibe to “Wouldn’t have gone with that colour, dawg” versus hate-bait.

Bravo on your most-ever commented post (I think I’m right here) and bravo on the expanding Petersik Platoon. The world needs more of ya!

Second, I just had to look at the photoshopping discussion from the day in the life post, and it makes me so mad! I can’t even believe people noticed that picture, let alone make a gif of the picture changing! Gah! I don’t know how y’all deal with it sometimes, but I’m glad you do because I love you guys!
