Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Congrats! I’m April 9th – it’s an excellent birthday. Though the diamond birthstone made getting birthstone jewelry when I was a kid not really possible. I got a tiny fleck of a diamond ring when I was like 4 and promptly dropped it down the air vent at preschool (who gives a 4 year old any type of ring though)!

    That’s wonderful!

Questions for Friday: I bet a bunch of us want to give you helpful tips and comment as you grow a new human. You guys are totally classy about home improvement tips that we send in, but pregnancy is a bit different. Thinking back to last time, what kinds of tips, comments, and questions are/were most helpful or nice to hear? Are there types of things we should really keep to ourselves? (For example, would any mention of food right now make Sherry queasy?)

Confession: I don’t really feel like you guys are strangers because I blog-stalk you (in a very appropriate and respectful way) on the reg!

Awww! So happy for you guys :) Clara will be a great big sis. After re-reading her birth story, I’m in even more wonder of your miracle girl. Can’t wait to hear if it’s a boy or girl…if you’re finding out that is. Last but not least, having had a miscarriage, I know how tough it can be to enjoy pregnancy. My unsolicited advice would be this quote: “Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.” Yay for maternity pants :) Hugs from Iowa!

Congratulations!!! That is truly wonderful news!

As a mum who had a horribly traumatic first birth, I can completely understand the worries and fears.. I waited 4 years before I tried to fall pregnant again and there is 5 years between my boys. The second time round was much easier, easier birth (not perfect but easier), easier baby all round (although he’s now a bit of a monkey toddler!) and I wish now, that I hadn’t stressed for so long about having another! But having that age gap between them is actually quite good.

Wishing you a worry free and easy rest of your pregnancy from my family to yours

    xxx

PS my 2 year old boy loves Clara! If there a picture of her on your post and he sees it he stares and says oooh girl!!!

P.S. I read the comments from the other post, and I’m so sorry you have to deal with such rudeness. It’s probably just a part of your daily life (that you *didn’t* include in your day-in-the-life post), but it still sucks that come people feel they can treat you with such disrespect.

Congratulations! I hope this doesn’t fall in the creepy category but it was so funny to me that I had to tell you. I have read your blog for a while and I have never been one of the baby bump watchers, it really just never crosses my mind, but the day you posted the “day in the life” post I had the strangest dream that night that the next day you announced that you were expecting and your due date was like the following week of the post and you had kept it a secret for almost 9 months. Of course everyone was like how can that be, you just showed all of these photos in your day in the life post and you answered that you were careful to place the laptop in front of you and things like that to cover up the tummy. The weirdest thing is that I never read the comments usually because I just don’t have time and until today I had no idea you photoshopped your tummy out of the stair pic in fact when I had that dream the next day I looked over the day in the life post again just to confirm it was a dream and that stair pic is what convinced me that it was haha (I’m not the most observant am I :-)…someone call Oprah I think I’m psychic lol.
