Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

So my first thought when I read this this morning was about the carpet in your bedroom. NOW I know why that became such a high priority! ;)

Sending sooooo much love from Wisconsin!! I can’t even stand the awesomeness that is a preggo Petersik & Bower at the exact same time. PLEASE tell me you are going to plan something amazeballs to celebrate this. A decorating duel between nurseries perhaps?!?!?!

Yay!! Congrats!! I’m due in March :) For the questions post, I’m wondering what house stuff you do while preggo and what stuff you won’t do. Do you take special precautions? For instance, I thought most painting was a no no since they have those scary warnings. Hubby and I were doing some home reno stuff and he made me wear an intense air filtering mask!

No-VOC paint in a ventilated area is the only way to go! Anything with VOCs (even low) can be bad, especially in the first half of pregnancy, so I don’t like to take any risks!

I’m expecting right now and due in March, I’ve actually been going back and reading your old posts about nursery decorating to get some ideas about mixing prints and fabrics. I’m thrilled to pieces for you guys, glad everything is going smoothly for you now. :-)

Okay the must know question of course is how did Katie take the news that you guys are pregnant at the same time again?

Congratulations to all of you! This is very exciting news!

Sherry, I wish you a very serene and zen pregnancy!!

I too gave birth in 2010 to a lovely little girl, and we had crazy complications at birth.. ending in a crash c-section under full anesthesia. We are now expecting baby girl number 2 for January and I have to be honest and say that I am terrified with the idea of having to give birth one more time! But I’m working really hard to stay zen and control my fears and anxiety, getting help and support from my family, my OBGYN, and a psychologist.. I came to realize that I have some sort of after birth PTSD.. and its ok and I’m not crazy and I just have to accept my fears and learn to control them! That being said, I just can’t wait to meet our new daughter!

Anyways, enough with my personal story.. I’m sure you will get lots of support from your loved ones!! And again, I wish you a wonderful pregnancy!

Aw thanks for sharing your story Catherine! I am trying to remember I can’t control everything but the least I can do is try to stay calm and not stress and not push things too hard, so I’m trying to be a zen momma! Love that advice!

Congratulations! I’m so very excited for your family – I hope the morning sickness subsides soon and that the rest of the pregnancy (and delivery) go as near to perfect as possible. Also, I just want to add that your site is a daily highlight for me. I love what you all do – your style, your take on life, etc. I’m sorry for the unnecessary and downright rude things I see other people post. I’ll never understand why some people are like that.
