Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

    Ahhh. Congratulations and sending wishes for a healthy pregnancy and delivery in April!
    I am also expecting, our first, and it is still early (7 weeks) so nobody knows. I guess all your readers know now. Can’t wait to hit that 12th week to be able to tell family and friends.
    I’m looking forward to reading all you’ll be doing with the nursery and your house for the upcoming baby! Maybe I’ll get some good ideas for our own growing bean. xoxo

    I’m so excited for you guys! It feels a little weird since I don’t know you. My husband scoffed at me when he realized the “Sherry’s pregnant!” exclamation referred to Young House Love. Oh well. I know you’ve talked about concerns for future pregnancies in the past, and I pray that this pregnancy is safe and healthy so that you all get to spend the time getting pumped up for #2. Yayyy!

    Very happy for you guys! You did a great job dealing with all the crazy questions/speculations over the years and I applaud you for it. Our daughter is 21 months and took some trails and tribulations to get here, and I cringe every time someone asks when we’re going to start trying for #2 for so many reasons. Give us a minute! I can only imagine how annoying it was for you guys, despite people’s best intentions. So in summary: yay.

    I know that you have posted before about the wait for number 2 and had to beat people off your womb with a stick… I don’t get the chance to comment often but I wanted to take the time to say that I am sincerely happy for you and your family. You’re in our prayers that this baby will continue to be healthy and that your delivery will not be as terrifying as your last. … Looks like you and your Bower bestie are expecting at the same time!     Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations Clara! Oh, and you too Sherry and John! I thought there was an awful lot of pillows on Sherry’s lap in a couple of pics, and chest-up pics, but respected the moratorium on discussing it! I’m weirdly excited for you guys!

    Congrats! I am so happy and excited for you guys. As a mom that had a very similar birth story to Sherri, that didn’t turn out as well, I will be saying prayers for your little bean. We have had another since and she is such a miracle and blessing. Feel better, Sherri!

    my question: is there any way we can be of help? I’ve never had a baby but I’d be willing to hold sherry’s hair while she throws up :D

    Congratulations! I am also pregnant (due in Dec/Jan) and had a pretty traumatic birth experience the first time (although not as complicated as yours) that culminated in an emergency c-section. I am debating VBAC vs. repeat C now and I am still so undecided. If you are medically clear for a VBAC would you try it, or do you think you might just schedule a C? Asking more because I am trying to gather opinions in making my own decision, not trying to pry for be too nosy! Good luck and I hope you start feeling better, soon!

    Congratulations. I know you’ve probably heard this a million times, but each pregnancy is different. Our first was a month early, a frightening experience (though not like yours). Second child, two weeks early. Third child, two days late and still is…

    What will you do differently this time around and what will stay the same? Do you think this will be good motivation for Clara to give up her crib for good? How will making room for a baby affect your planned projects? Sorry so many questions, I’m just so excited! Can’t wait to see what you have up your sleeves for this nursery!
