Now Expanding

We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.

Bean Clara

The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.

Bean Sherry

(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)

Bean John

Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.

Bean Burger

Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!

Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

SOOOOOO excited for you guys! Congratulations! I’m such a sap… I’m 31 weeks pregnant with our first as of tomorrow and am emotional over everything, so this definitely made me tear up. Having been a devoted reader since shortly after your wedding, I feel like I know you guys and love it when you have big happy life event :)
And I love me some Q and A so here it goes: What are your fears or worries and what are you not going to worry about this time around compared to your first? I feel like having the perspective of one pregnancy and baby under your belt would change dramatically what you worry about.

Oh, how EXCITING – SORRY you felt so sick during first trimester. Hope that is ending so the next six months will be a pleasant growing time for the wee one. CONGRATS to ALL (give my best wishes to Kathy and Tom on the pending addition of yet another grand!) Clara is going to be a terrific big sister.

I recently went through quite the pregnancy experience which involved premature water breaking, cord prolapses, placental abruption, and a whole lot of hospital bed rest… but as you know, it’s all worth it! I linked to pictures of our miracle baby :)
    Best wishes!

    Questions:
Do you have boy/girl names picked out?
Have you considered doing a gender neutral nursery?
Does Clara have names picked out? Burger 2, Pizza… maybe?

I second the “how did you tell Clara” question. And how did you tell Burger? And how did you tell your family? Also:
Are you going to find out the gender (and if you do, I know you’ll tell us!)?
How are you working to let joy dominate this pregnancy and not fear, given your past experience? I think this is VERY important, as I believe the mother’s thinking, especially, influences the child.
Do you have name(s) picked out?
How did Clara get her name? (Do you use family names? Would you consider using a surname? Are there any contenders?)
What are “all y’all’s” middle names? My parents, my four brothers and I all have “E” middle names…any meme in the works?
Do you give much thought to initials? (my mom puts lots of stock in this and it’s the first thing she thinks about!)
What about potential nicknames? Do you brainstorm on that when thinking of names?
What’s the cousin run down – how many, ages, how far away do they live and do you get to visit often? Cousins are the best! Well, second only to grandparents!

whew! OK – that’s all I can think of for now. I only saw one question above, so I don’t feel bad hogging the question queue. ha.

Your site is going NUTS and I can’t get a comment to go through, because everyone is just as excited as I am!

Congratulations, Petersiks! I’m due with our third in February, and the all-day sickness just keeps going and going. Lucky me. I hope Sherry’s doesn’t last that long! We get an 20 week ultrasound on Friday, but we’ve decided that, since we have one of each, we’re going to wait to be surprised.

    Soooooo . . . questions:
    When are you due?
Are you going to find out if it’s a boy or a girl?
Are you thinking of a theme for the nursery?
    Are you nesting (I AM!)?
How did you tell John and the rest of your families?
    How did you tell Clara?

    Uuuummmm . . . that’s good. Congratulations again!
