He’s here!

We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of our family, baby Teddy!

On Wednesday, April 16th at 8:51 am, Theodore Freeman Petersik was born wielding a tiny drill weighing in at 8 lbs on the dot and measuring 19.5 inches long. We’re crazy in love with him, including Clara who just can’t stop kissing and snuggling “her baby.” Especially when he whimpers or coos, it becomes her personal mission to soothe him.

Teddy was named after my dad’s dad Theodore (who went by Teddy his entire life) and his middle name honors John’s maternal grandfather (Freeman is John’s middle name too). Teddy is already proving to be a little spitfire like his sister, although he came into the world a lot less dramatically, for which we’re eternally grateful. We’re both so relieved and overjoyed that he’s healthy and here in our arms.

Thank you all so much for the love, kind words, good vibes, prayers, and well-wishes that you’ve sent our way throughout this pregnancy. The c-section delivery went flawlessly and I’m feeling great, so it’s a nice contrast from my last rodeo. Our little family of five (Burger counts!) has never felt so blessed.

Speaking of Burger, we’ll be in the hospital through this weekend, so he has yet to meet his newest bestie/crumb provider (he’s at our house with the grandparents, being spoiled to no end), but we’re sure they’ll be fast friends. We hope to be back to blogging on Monday when we’re home, albeit on a slower schedule. Until then, we’ll leave you with this:

    So glad to hear that your c-section went well this time around! Happy and healthy, that’s all a mother and father could ask for :) He is beautiful and LOVE his name! Great choice, very masculine and hearty! Good luck with this little one, I know my little boy keeps me very busy but it is so wonderful. Each baby is truly love at first sight and your pictures definitely captured this. So very happy for your family, enjoy every single minute. Congratulations!!

    Congratulations! He is the sweetest bundle of joy and what a fabulous and meaningful name.

    I recently had a baby too. In the newborn classes, they warned us that infant identity theft is the new rage and often not discovered until the kid is a high schooler and has terrible credit. They said all you needed was the full name and date of birth to commit the crime. You may want to consider revising your information just a little bit. Sorry to be such a downer..

      That’s true – but sadly usually it’s the parent who does it, not some random stranger. I used to work for credit union and we saw it all the time.

    He is so precious! I know when babies are first born it is hard to say “who they look like” but I think he favors John in the first picture! Congrats on such a sweet addition! I know Clara must be so excited that he is here, as well as you guys! <3 <3

    Congratulations! So much hair, he’s gorgeous! I love the name too, I wanted to call my little boy Teddy but my husband nixed it (boooooo!) so I’m glad that your lovely little boy is a Teddy! Just perfect! xxx

    Over the moon for you guys – you are absolutely glowing Sherry – so pleased things were so much less dramatic for you this time around. Clara will be the best big sister / mommy’s helper ever. Dad and Grandma Petersik are clearly besotted too. His name is a wonderful homage to family and I love traditional (old fashioned?) names. I can see him already, tool belt on, hammer in hand, ready to DIY with his YHL family. HUGE Congrats. With love from our family here in Australia. xx
