Fab Freebie: World Play

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And the lucky / randomly selected / soon to be quite worldly person is… Briana (who says “London, Ontario is special to me. That’s where I first lived on my own, went to University, met my husband, and I just loved that city. Plus, it has the best spaghetti restaurant ever, Spageddy Eddy’s!”). Congrats! And for everyone else, scroll down to the contest entry details for a sweet little discount the Wallpapered folks added for everyone.

One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.

Wallpapered Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Any world map or custom area map wallpaper up to 8ft x 5ft from Wallpapered (a $400+ value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORLD ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what town / city / state / country / other geographic area is most special to you? Will you always have a fondness for the town you grew up in? Are you most enamored with the place where you honeymooned? Or are you just bursting with pride over the area where you currently live?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 23rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Wahoo, this giveaway is available worldwide!
  • DISCOUNT: Get 10% off your custom map order with code YHL2013
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

    WORLD ME!!

My husband and I are from a small city near Churchill MB, Canada and I think that city would be so darling to have in our study. That or we’ve fallen madly in love with Montreal when we visited a couple years ago (for our “honeymoon” just 4 years late) and we fantasize and speak of it weekly, it would be a little way to bring Montreal to us when we can’t just hop on a plane and go!

    World Me!

Oooo, maps! We’d use the map to decorate our baby’s nursery! We’re 14 weeks along today and completely over the moon! Perhaps we’d chose Eastern Europe where we backpacked this summer after saving for four years. It was our big trip before our big baby adventure began. :)

Actually, we’re headed to Ikea for wardrobes in order to move my husband’s clothes out of the baby’s room and back into our own. We got the inspiration from your first house, Sherry. :) We’re thinking a color scheme of gray, golden yellow, beige, and white. I never would have picked gray, but I’ve loved how you’ve used it. It’s made me realize that gray can absolutely be warm. Excited!!! I’m really crossing my finger for this one!

By the way, we live in the “Northwoods” of Wisconsin and Young House Love is absolutely on the spectrum of book love. Your book was on our library’s shelves right away. I was giddy, breathlessly asked my husband “Do you know what this is?!” and promptly sat down to peruse the glossy photos and quippy explanations. Fun! Congratulations on your much-deserved success!

I completely wallpapered a bathroom at work with National Geographic maps – in wasn’t uncommon to find a whole group of people closeted in there, discussing something interesting from the maps!

I have a street map of Dublin, circa 1765, in my own bathroom. I love that I can retrace the walks I took on that old map.

For me it’s NYC all the way! I’m from Montreal Canada, currently live in Toronto, but when time came to pick a place to get married 3 years ago, we picked NYC – we got married on the Brooklyn Bridge! There’s no where else in the world (in my opinion) where you can find such cool culture, architecture, arts, and a diversity of the people who live there. If it weren’t so darn expensive I’d be in Manhattan right now:)

WORLD ME!!! The place that means the most to me is Dummer Township, part of Peterborough County in Ontario Canada. It’s where I grew up and went to school – and yes it’s called Dummer – pronounced Dumb-er. The neighbouring Township (think Shelbyville to our Springfield) was Douro Township and they used to make fun of us all and say things like “I live over on the Dummer side of Douro” etc. Jeez and the town fathers could never figure out why it was so hard to recruit girls to compete for the Dummer Fall Fair Queen….no one wanted to wear that sash. Anyway we got the last laugh a few years ago when our province made townships all over merge in order to shrink the size and expense of government. So those suckers in Douro are now part of the newly merged Dummer-Douro Township. Who’s laughing now?!
