Fab Freebie: World Play

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And the lucky / randomly selected / soon to be quite worldly person is… Briana (who says “London, Ontario is special to me. That’s where I first lived on my own, went to University, met my husband, and I just loved that city. Plus, it has the best spaghetti restaurant ever, Spageddy Eddy’s!”). Congrats! And for everyone else, scroll down to the contest entry details for a sweet little discount the Wallpapered folks added for everyone.

One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.

Wallpapered Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Any world map or custom area map wallpaper up to 8ft x 5ft from Wallpapered (a $400+ value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORLD ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what town / city / state / country / other geographic area is most special to you? Will you always have a fondness for the town you grew up in? Are you most enamored with the place where you honeymooned? Or are you just bursting with pride over the area where you currently live?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 23rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Wahoo, this giveaway is available worldwide!
  • DISCOUNT: Get 10% off your custom map order with code YHL2013
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

My husband and I currently live in Richmond – he grew up here and I’m a 6 year old transplant, but I luuurrrvvee everything about RVA – from the food, to the rivah, to the crazily dressed VCU kids, to the rich history and old buildings. SO much heart and soul!

World me! Irvington, VA. Beautiful little area on the Northern Neck that most people have never heard of, and the locals like it that way. I love the mountains of C’ville, but my heart is on the water! This way, I can have it all!

Hey guys…for me, actually, its going to be a little butt-kissing but I swear its not…its New York City. I have a subway map up in my room. Its the first city I ever lived in on my own, and Frank Sinatra most famously says “If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.” The whole city is just generation built on top of generation, and you can run into churches from the 1600s and buildings finished yesterday. Pre-war apartments and posh Trump Towers…New York City has something for everyone and yet its own place and attitude. I love it. (Even though “KL” things its boring! LOL)

I’d have to say Hillsdale, MI since that’s where I met my wonderful husband. My second fave would be NC, where we have happily lived for three years now. And, I definitely favor the NC weather!

I would go for the world map. We’ve traveled on 6 continents but love to look for new places to explore as well as remembering the places we’ve been. (I love maps and have a habit of saving every one I’ve ever owned, with the thought of someday papering a room. Ha, I could probably paper an entire house!)

I hope to see you when you visit Portland!

    WORLD ME :)

Charlottesville, VA and Costa Rica (in general) are most special to me. As a UVA Alum, I definitely drank the kool-aid when it comes to “THE University” and the surrounding area. It is absolutely stunning throughout every season of the year and the amazing architecture, history, vineyards, etc. can’t be beat.

After good old C-ville, Costa Rica is a favorite, as my husband and I honeymooned there. You can experience beaches, 2349837284980 types of forests, mountains, and volcanoes, all in one tiny little country. The locals are super friendly and it is an overall, magical place.

Currently Huacachina, Peru. Into our third month of backpacking we fled here after someone broke into our hotel room while we were sleeping in a nearby town. Also, we were both homesick and real sick. And found a tiny piece of paradise in Huacachina! Nothing to do but sleep, sunbath, row across the lagoon and go sand boarding. Amazing!
