Fab Freebie: World Play

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

And the lucky / randomly selected / soon to be quite worldly person is… Briana (who says “London, Ontario is special to me. That’s where I first lived on my own, went to University, met my husband, and I just loved that city. Plus, it has the best spaghetti restaurant ever, Spageddy Eddy’s!”). Congrats! And for everyone else, scroll down to the contest entry details for a sweet little discount the Wallpapered folks added for everyone.

One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.

Wallpapered Giveaway

  • PRIZE: Any world map or custom area map wallpaper up to 8ft x 5ft from Wallpapered (a $400+ value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORLD ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …what town / city / state / country / other geographic area is most special to you? Will you always have a fondness for the town you grew up in? Are you most enamored with the place where you honeymooned? Or are you just bursting with pride over the area where you currently live?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 23rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Wahoo, this giveaway is available worldwide!
  • DISCOUNT: Get 10% off your custom map order with code YHL2013
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Western Washington, perhaps with a zoom-in on hubby’s dairy farm (he was a dairy farmer when we met) which has been owned by his family for over 120 years. It’s next to a winding river and about 30 miles from the coast, so it would be a cool map spot!

    WORLD ME!!!!

I love Quebec City, Quebec. My family and I went there for Thanksgiving back in 1998 and it was the most memorable Thanksgiving I have ever had. It was one of the last vacations I ever went on with my grandfather before he passed away. I’ll never forget him waddling down those historic streets of Quebec City.

I’m torn between Philadelphia (where we live now) and San Francisco (where we went on our honeymoon and we fell in LOVE with the city). They’re both great in their own right. :)

My husband is active duty military, so we move around a lot. It makes it hard to pick a particular place, but we both have a love for NYC. My husband grew up there, I spent a lot of my young adult life bumbling around the city, and my husband and I met there. :)

Love your home..and all the colors! Seeing the picture of John painting..do you use primer first or paint with primer? It seemed to cover well.

Got your book for Christmas…really enjoying it. I’m probably one of your older followers (could be your mother!), but read your posts daily. Keep up the good work!

My hometown. Orangeville, UT. Tiny, remote, I’m related to everyone. Everyone has PO boxes and you’re bound to run into your sweet little blue-haired great aunt. No stoplights, fast food, shopping. When you say ‘the intersection’ you’re only talking about one thing- and everyone knows what it is. I know that sounds like torture to some people. That’s fine.

    WORLD ME!

    Ithaca, NY weirdly enough.

I spent a summer doing summerstock theatre there, and I never EVER wanted to leave. It’s this little liberal town, with all these amazing and cheap college-town esque places to go and eat and do things, and it’s got these crazy ass hills to drive around, and 100 waterfalls within 10 min of town, many of which I swam and played on, sometimes in the dark by starlight.

I was maybe not the safest adventurer that summer, but let me tell you, it was worth it. I actually got a tatoo of a shooting star on my foot to remind me of that summer and watching for meteors as we laid on a rock in the river listening to a waterfall. Glor. I. Ous.
