One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.

    I currently live in Austin, TX and after moving away for college and coming back, then moving away for a job and returning home once again, I can tell you that it’s my favorite place in the whole world. I’d love an Austin, TX map wall. Pick me!

    Maybe Baltimore, MD which is more or less where I’ve lived my whole life, or Easton, MD (small town) where I more or less grew up. Definitely somewhere in Maryland would be my choice though!

    WORLD ME!

    My favorite place is Champery, Switzerland. I went there when I was 17, and every morning I’d get a crepe from the shop run by a 90-year-old woman. Then I’d get to explore the mountains all day long! I even had my first kiss there. :)

    WORLD ME! Kuching is where I grew up, but my homes are a toss up between Duesseldorf and London. Both of which I miss greatly from my student days and am constantly homesick for!

    WORLD ME! There are two. The little village in England that I grew up in, and the city in England I met my now husband and gave birth to my first child in. Now we live in the States, they are the two places I know I have left a piece of my heart.

    Vital info: I was born and raised in Central Georgia, and while the southern culture has plenty of good sides, it also has a few negative – one of which is the southern drawl so I pride myself on not having a strong accent! While we love to travel both within the US and abroad, I will always be happy to come back home to our historic house where our silly but sweet little rescue kitty named Katy is waiting.

    P.S. I would love this map for our future maybe baby’s room! And hi, I’m officially transitioning from a fascinated fan/”lurker” to a real, live commenter. Go me.

    WORLD ME!! I’m going to wallpaper our powder room with my husband’s old nautical charts from the Long Island Sound area. Our basement has a beachy theme so it would fit right in.

    If I’m luck enough to win the map wallpaper I’d choose the Connecticut and paper the eating area in our kitchen!!!

    WORLD ME!

    Those map wallpapers are amazing. I will always be fond of Buffalo NY, my hometown. It’s a small city, a city that has perhaps seen better days, but I love it. There is a vibrant arts culture and the literary scene is alive and well. It’s a beautiful area that may have a bad reputation for its weather, but the lake effect snow is beautiful, and that same lake keeps the climate away from extreme cold in the winter and extreme heat in the summer. We have Niagara Falls and Great Lakes.
    Buffalo may have a lot of naysayers, but it is an absolutely amazing place to live.

    The Iowa “Great Lakes” area. My husband is from the area of Northwest Iowa home of Lake Okoboji and Spirit Lake. It is just a beautiful spot in our home state that means a lot to him and has become a special place for me as well.

    WORLD ME!!

    Wanderlust! This word describes me so well. I love the concept of traveling especially to places near the water. I would love to follow a similar trip like the one mentioned in “Around the World in 80 Days”.

    I am from Michigan and am currently studying abroad at a medical school in the Caribbean. I definitely prefer Michigan over Caribbean because living in Michigan has allowed me to appreciate all the four weather seasons but most importantly my friends and family reside this state.

    WORLD ME! I hold a special place in my heart for New York, specifically Manhattan. I love it there and it is like no other place I’ve visited! I always thought I’d live there, but now I’m by the beach and I’m loving that, too.

    WORLD ME! I would love a huge map of Boston. I went to school in Boston and I still currently live in the Greater Boston area. After a 7th grade trip to Boston, I knew I wanted to live there for a while. I’ve been here for a little over 8 years! Haven’t left yet. :)
